surprised this is at the black cat TBH

I believe black cat can do 700 and Atlantis 450.

930 is a heavy lift.

Also acts like to spread themselves around. Black cat has its crowd that prefers to see acts there

Valerie June’s performance at The Town Hall on May 6, 2025, as part of her “Owls, Omens, and Oracles” tour, was a mesmerizing blend of the celestial and the grounded, offering moments of both transcendence and occasional overindulgence.

Draped in a vibrant ensemble that mirrored the stage's moon-and-star motif, June led her audience through a sonic journey that traversed gospel, blues, folk, and psychedelic soul. Her distinctive voice—ethereal yet gritty—served as the linchpin, anchoring the eclectic mix of genres and themes. Songs like “You and I” and “Call Me a Fool” showcased her ability to infuse traditional sounds with contemporary flair, creating an atmosphere that felt both timeless and immediate.

However, the evening wasn't without its challenges. June's penchant for extended meditative interludes and abstract monologues occasionally disrupted the concert's momentum, leaving some attendees yearning for a more cohesive narrative thread. While these moments highlighted her commitment to authenticity and spiritual exploration, they also risked alienating listeners seeking a more conventional concert experience.

Despite these occasional lapses, June's performance was undeniably captivating. Her ability to weave complex emotional tapestries through song is a testament to her artistry. For those open to a concert experience that defies traditional structures and embraces the mystical, Valerie June offers a unique and enriching journey.

it's absurd he would charge a fan that much in light of this news I just read
Simmons, 75, is reportedly the richest member of Kiss and is worth $400 million.

Thought the Bob Mould show was among the very best I've ever seen him do. J Robbins is an awesome opener, and it was a great time...but Bob's performance really was superlative. I felt like that was the closest to Husker Du that I'll ever see. It was relentless, a truly powerful show. And better than what I saw in New York, which I felt was already pretty fantastic. It also highlighted how his last string of 6 or so LPs really are some of his strongest and most consistent work. Some of those songs could have easily held up on a Husker Du record..."Next Generation", "Fireball", "You Say You", "Losing Time", "Hard to Get", "When Your Heart is Broken"...those are some incredible songs.

Great energy from the stage, for sure, but I always forget how sub-par the Black Cat is compared to other venues.

I used "relentless" to describe the show last night, too.  Holy hell that was good.

Yes! ''Relentless'' is the key word.  At 64, Mould is still a ball of fire.  He was soaked in sweat by maybe the third song of his set of 26.  I've enjoyed his solo shows in the past, but when he's with this band it's on another level. Wurster makes the most of every drum and cymbal in his kit.

Yeah - Wuster was a big draw for me
