the death threats were wrong. no one is arguing that.
however, it wasn't the death threats that drove them out of business, as much as the reactionary right plays up that aspect of the story. it was the lack of clientele. that's the real story here: the community heard that this bakery was run by religious bigots, they took their business elsewhere, and the bigots had to close. it makes for good press to howl about a nasty phone call or two but those calls didn't scare people away. it's the owners' attitude that did.
As usual the liberal left wants everyone else to be tolerant of them but they are not tolerant of anyone who has even a slightly different view than theirs.
oh that's rich. sorta like how the religious wingnuts want everyone to respect their right to discriminate, but refuse to be tolerant of other adults' choice of who they love?
the "liberal left" - aka the majority of that community - spoke with their wallets, which last i checked was a value that this country is based upon.
