What is this, all a boot?

Nope, it's only half a boot.

so jules, i apologize but i need to borrow your thread.
No problem but in return if I write an anthem for Julian's America at some point, I reserve the right to "borrow" some of those cool "true north strong and free" and "we stand on guard for thee" lines.

Sweets, just read this and thought you would enjoy it. It is, ostensibly, a preview of Michigan's 2016 football team but it is, in actuality, 90% about the experience of growing up across the border from Canada and the Tragically Hip. I think most people who gre up near metro-Detroit agree with the sentiment that we all feel "100% American and somehow also 30% Canadian".

loved it.  the author's 30% canadian came shining through, because those vignettes of how the Hip once intertwined with his life is exactly why a third of the country watched that last concert.

aside: "No Dress Rehearsal" is a line from the Hip's "Ahead by a Century", which, aside-to-the-aside, was the last song of the concert.  it's been a popular line to use...

Of course I knew that, I'm from Detroit. 89X was required to play 1/3rd of their music from Canadian artists. Much like Brian, I own multiple Hip and Our Lady Peace CDs. He really does hit the phenomenon right on the head.

Not my thing, really.

I took an Enneagram for work and I came solidly in the thinking category nowhere near the feeling side.  I was solidly Loyal Skeptic with a Wing of Enthusiastic Visionary, though some argued Quiet Specialist was more appropriate Wing.  No one argued that I should have been labeled in the feeling center or anywhere near it.

Since this thread is out on loan...

From the neighborhood listserv:

Please, PLEASE, PLEASE do NOT leave your dog poop inside other people's trash cans. It is very rude. I brought our trash cans back up to the house this morning right after the trash trucks came by, so I know that they were empty when I left for work. When I came home tonight, though, there was a bag of dog poop in one of our cans. It's especially frustrating that someone would do this right after the weekly trash pick-up and on a day when it is 90 degrees outside. Plus, this person clearly walked all the way up to the top of our driveway, which is on a steep hill, to get to our trash can since it wasn't even on the street. I realize that most of you are considerate neighbors, so I'm sorry to send this to the entire list serve. But I don't know who the culprit is and I'm not sure how else to get this message across since this isn't the first (or even second) time this has happened.

Wait, wait, wait if people are going to start using this thread to draw attention to issues on the reg, I'm going to need to charge a fee and monetize the Julian brand. It's the Julian way.

Oh, I just thought that this was a pressing issue in Julian's America that would resonate with the readership. There's been subsequent messages suggesting that outsiders are coming into the neighborhood and leaving their, um, canine castings in our pristine receptacles.  And a call for additional security cameras to identify the scofflaws and shame them into compliance.

We have people who dispose of our pets poops. Also we've genetically modified many of our pets to not poop. But honestly, I'm not supposed to talk about that technology around "normies." I've probably said too much already.
