Agreed. They made a good offer, it's an amazing offer, he doesn't like it, goodbye. Roch is saying Rosenthal may have been fed that info by Boras and that the O's offer is still 150.

That's the Boras game.  They did the right thing by pulling the offer and pretending to move on.  It's working on all of you....

How is it working if he no longer has an offer?

Because they don't really want to sign him long term, but they don't want a fan backlash over not doing so. It's working, because the newly created narrative (i. e. Baltimore tried to resign him at a large figure and it was rejected) makes him look greedy and diminishes him in the eyes of fans, thereby circumventing any backlash.

Call me naive, but I do think they wanted to sign him long term, but had a certain number in mind.  Who's to say there is another team willing to give Boras the number he wants?

The Angels have claimed infielder Rey Navarro off waivers from the Orioles.

All glove,  no stick?

We spent Xmas in St John.

Our next to last day, I hear the voice of a native behind me requesting that I come back to him. I assumed it was somebody trying to scam me for a buck, like on the previous day.

I turn around to see a tall, solidly built, uniformed, middle age guy, so my next though was he was law enforcement and what the heck am I in trouble for.

He starts questioning me...asks where I'm from, asks about the Orioles hat I'm wearing, etc. His earring and friendly tone makes me thing maybe he's not law enforcement.

He then introduces himself as Elrod Hendricks Jr.

I missed that story, Rhett.  Pretty cool....

In other news:

The Orioles and Mark Trumbo, who was acquired last month in a trade with Seattle, avoided arbitration by agreeing to a $9.15 million deal. If you're keeping score at home, that's $12.85 million less than the annual value of the deal that the O's offered to Chris Davis, whom Trumbo may end up replacing at first base.

Yoenis Cespedes debating between a 5-year, $90m deal with Baltimore, or a one year deal with the Mets.
