Chris Davis announces his "retirement" and yes, I intentionally used quotes because the Orioles have agreed to pay Chris for the one year remaining on the contract, albeit restructured.  He does free up a roster spot though.

"Davis’ deferral-laden contract had originally pushed out $6MM of his $23MM salary each year. He’d been set to receive $3.5MM payments on July 1 each year from 2023-32 and $1.4MM payments on July 1 from 2033-37. Those deferrals will remain in place, it seems. Roch Kubatko of MASNsports.com reports, however, that the $17MM owed to Davis in 2022 will now be deferred and paid out in three installments from 2023-25. That frees up some payroll for the 2022 O’s but still guarantees Davis receives the entirety of the original guarantee."

Congrats.  He can share Bobby Bonilla day through 2035, then he can have it to himself for two years!

The Shohei Train blew through Detroit last night and will likely make a stop on the mound in Baltimore on Wednesday.

That is all for this public service announcement.

Are you sure?  I figured Tuesday but I have both nights just in case. We might even get 10K plus out there.

That being said what is your post-mortem on the Bauer thing?

Post-mortem? Technically he’s not murdered a woman just yet, but give it time.

Not 100% positive but the Angels have a 6-man rotation to protect his arm post surgery (hence why he doesn’t qualify for the ERA rankings).  That being said, they are a little banged up at the moment so Tuesday is a possibility, but since he went 8 innings in Detroit (low pitch count) my money is on Wednesday.

ESPN says Bundy on Tuesday, Ohtani on Wed.

Makes perfect sense that they’d break the streak tonight

What an absolute meltdown from the Angels pen last night.  I'm sure you were all thinking "I thought 5 runs on 4 walks and 3 hits only happens to the O's."

Ohtani was not sharp, but did enough to get the victory.

Does he usually swing at everything on the nights he pitches?  Sure seemed like it last night.
