How is it that CB Bucknor is still a major league umpire?
People are going ape over that "foul tip" but that's a one-play thing. His insanely-variable strikezone is every play of every game.

Oh yeah.  He's consistently awful.

I've never seen so much crying over a win.

And I'm just going to say this because I know none of you stay up late enough to see it for yourselves:

Mike Trout>Bryce Harper

I'm referring to all 5 tools, plus he's better looking and has better hair.

Happy Mike Trout and Bryce Harper Day!

story gets crazier and crazier

https://sports.yahoo.com/news/aaron-hernandez-apos-hidden-sexuality-195536484.html

Did Hernandez also hide the fact that he was an MLB player?

The Twins are kicking in $4M so next years salaries will be the same, though I suspect Santiago will out pitch Nolasco.  I guess the Angles Brass really like Meyer.

Meyer seems to be that perennial "young talent" that GM's and scouts love, he's been consistently on Baseball America's top 100 prospects list since he was drafted by the Nats.... meanwhile, he's now 26 and still hasn't had a modicum of success at the big league level when given the chance so we'll see how he does in his 3rd organization in 3 years....

Meyer finally started for the Angels last night.  Just as described - hard thrower with little control.  He was better than his numbers (4.0 IP, 8 H, 6 ER, 3 BB, 4K) but he will be frustrating to watch for a while.

But not NEARLY as frustrating to watch as Danny Espinosa.  Hoya warned me that he was not my kind of ball player, but my god how did Nats fans stand him for 6 seasons?  He's definitely not Scioscia's type either with the lack of contact he makes.  Not sure how he's tolerating it and I'm not sure how many more times I can watch him hit.

There, is a Orioles thread.  There, is a mlb thread.  Is there,  a nats thread?  A softball thread?  A hot guy in a jock strap and big bat thread?

Albert Pujols is the Worst Player in Baseball

Still might get 100 RBI, which would show you just how terrible he has been every where else.  He's making $26m this year.

Justin Upton to the Angels only makes sense if he opts out of his deal.  If he doesn't, the same year Josh Hamilton is taken off the books at $26.4m per year, they add Upton for $22.4m for the next 4 years...

But hey, if they make the playoffs, it was worth it, right?  (No.)
