i did a quick news search and came up with the following non-muslim incidents... you probably haven't heard of most of these.  perhaps we're a little quick to highlight the islam-related occurrences, disproportionately?

where are all the right-wing apologists to make excuses for the inherent violence of christians?!?  what about asking fundamental questions about in inherent violence of christians (the bible promotes hate!!!) and putting these concerns front and center of each news cycle???

Are you saying those tragedies were all a result of someone being inspired by the Bible with the hope that they were increasing their rewards in heaven?

I'm still trying to wrap my head around this one. Two devout followers of Islam walk into a Catholic church in France and slit the throat and/or behead the priest and you're equating that with a random shooting in Laurel?

Do I seem giddy? I'd say I'm way more sad than giddy.

I think the first step to coming up with a solution is recognizing the problem correctly. Some people want to blame it entirely on gun availability. Others want to blame it entirely on mental illness. Others want to blame it entirely on religion. Others want to blame it all entirely on colonial history. Blah blah blah. When it's really often a combination of all of those.

Believing in a "God" that has no scientific provable reality is probably a sign of mental illness. Some are more mentally ill than others.

Since this mental illness probably is not going to disappear anytime soon, how do we treat it? I think the moderate religion people must do something to reel in the more ill. I'm not sure how this should be done, but it's not my job. It's not Trumps job, and it's not Hillary's job. It's the job of the moderate religious leaders. Actually, in the case of the Muslims, it's the job of the liberal reformers, as outside of the US the "moderate Muslims" are still pretty damn conservative.

yes you do seem giddy.. every time there is an attack or incident you come on here before the ink is even dry to gloat with a very "I told you so" tone.

this is the dumbest thing I have ever read... "It's not my job"??? WTF??? of course its your "JOB".. you live in the US and its your "job" to make the country you live in a decent place to live in.. presumably that is what you want to do.

what kind of lame assed citizen are you? If you're concerned about Americans who are muslim becoming radicalized or committing terrorist attacks of course its your job to do something about it..  and not simply bitch about the muslims..

your post is just so stupid dude... obviously we need to adopt policies to protect ourselves as much as possible from having terrorism in our country.... to say that "its the job of the muslims themselves" is completely deflecting any responsibility and divides us between muslims and non-muslims.. we're all in this together.. all Americans.

I have to say- with all due respect- that I don't think you have the intellectual capability to discuss this....anybody who would argue "hey its not my problem, let the muslims take care of it" is living in la la land.. its a very complex issue.. it involves immigration for example.. government has a HUGE role to play.. hence, Hillary or Trump will have a big role to play... to think the solution is simply to say "hey its the muslims so let the muslim community police itself"..wow.

and the whole lets split the difference the Muslims radicals are wrong and the Liberal apologists are wrong is also incredibly stupid... its the traditional bothsiderism.... reductionist and useless.

Is it also my job to reduce the rate of single parenthood in the African-American community?

"Job" was in quotes.. obviously its not your job in the traditional sense of the word job..

Nice job ignoring everything I wrote to you in response...

You're a troll.. nothing more nothing less...

I'm honestly stating my opinion, just like sweetcell. I'm not sure how that makes one of us a troll and one of us not.

I stand by my comment that it's mostly on the Muslim community to clean up their shit.

On a tangential note, it's also on the police community to clean up their shit. Are you going to say that it should be on the (mostly African-American) victims to clean up the issue of dirty racist cops?

I'm interested in hearing your thoughts on the Ali Rizvi article I posted, as he probably has a lot more insight into the issues than either you or I do:

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/ali-a-rizvi/the-new-center-between-th_b_8778908.html

If he says anything you disagree with, does that make him a "troll" too?

no.. what makes you a troll is that you post something and then when someone responds at length.. thinking over what you said... you then respond with one line which basically has nothing to do with what they said but is designed to get them riled up again.. you have no interest in having a conversation about this.. your posts are basically meant to stir up shit... like "Bet his name was Muhammad" and then if someone actually takes the time to respond you'll more than likely simply post a link to some article and ignore what they post.. that makes you a troll and its highly annoying.. so I'm done responding to anything you have to say regarding  muslims... fool me once shame on you but fool me twice- and you have- shame on me.... good day.

I'm not saying this to be mean, but where the fuck do you get all that time at your job to type up long-winded paragraphs daily to a half dozen different forum topics on a daily basis? And I can only assume that you're spending more time on other websites, writing personal email, etc. Maybe you'e a typing wizard, but I'm not.

The reason my replies are twitter-length are because I have a job that I actually have to focus on, and don't have time to think about and write lengthy blog-worthy posts. Yes, I post a lot, but five 20 second posts a day is just more manageable (though of course less informative) than the paragraphs you produce. Then I go home and take care of my kid and get an hour alone with my wife if i'm lucky.  Where do you expect me to find the time to write insightful, well thought out paragraphs? If I'm going to do that, it's going to be in love notes to my wife like she wants, not internet discussions with strangers.

So what are your thoughts on the Ali Rizvi article? Now he's someone I will set aside 15 mins to read, as his commentary is better and more informative than anything i could possible write.

I can't believe I just spent 20-30 minutes writing this, I just lost my chance to read a bedtime story tonight and probably pissed my wife off in the process.

I'm interested in hearing your thoughts on the Ali Rizvi article I posted, as he probably has a lot more insight into the issues than either you or I do:

If he says anything you disagree with, does that make him a "troll" too?

I'm honestly stating my opinion, just like sweetcell. I'm not sure how that makes one of us a troll and one of us not.

I stand by my comment that it's mostly on the Muslim community to clean up their shit.

no.. what makes you a troll is that you post something and then when someone responds at length.. thinking over what you said... you then respond with one line which basically has nothing to do with what they said but is designed to get them riled up again.. you have no interest in having a conversation about this.. your posts are basically meant to stir up shit... like "Bet his name was Muhammad" and then if someone actually takes the time to respond you'll more than likely simply post a link to some article and ignore what they post.. that makes you a troll and its highly annoying.. so I'm done responding to anything you have to say regarding  muslims... fool me once shame on you but fool me twice- and you have- shame on me....

I'm not going to write an essay about it, I'll just say that once convicted, this guy should be given an extremely torturous version of the death penalty.
