I ride downhill to the bar to watch early morning football matches.  Then I walk it back home or to the start of Golden Gate Park to ride to the bar at the end of the park.  If I make it to the bar at the end of GG Park, I usually have to cab it home.

Hell of a workout regimen you've got there, Smacks.

why don't you just Uber it then?  Just like being seen on your fixie with your right pant leg rolled up?

Smackie doesn't uber - doesn't believe in their liability model.

However, it's mostly because the matches are currently starting at 4:45AM and it's been unreliable to get a cab that early in the morning.  So if I ride the 1.5 miles, I can save about 20 minutes from the walk I used to make.  That's valuable sleep time...

Fixie?  No, serious cyclists hate me cruising along with my beer...

Is this the bike thread now?  If so, this is my new ride....

Did this trip a couple years back.  It was totally sublime.  Climbing 6,000 feet in a day and getting swallowed by mud and forced to find a detour didn't feel so great at the time, but I would do the trip again in a heartbeat:

That looks pretty awesome

the Moco Epic is pretty cool too - I did it two years ago

Are you talking about them classifying all the drivers as independent contractors?

I also bike commute to work and MTB during the winter - closing in on 3,300 miles so far this year
that's impressive
I only commute by bike 1-2 days a week, but really would like to change that...but you know family getting in the way in all
and I'm kinda a wimp in the colder weather - if it's below 45 at 6:30 AM...not doing it

been averaging bout 2500 a year, if I change to commuting 3-4, could easily get to 5k a year

Bike commuter here. Haven't driven to work in 8+ years, including the day after I got a vasectomy. I should have driven that day, in retrospect.

I have no personal boasts to add to this thread, but I will say that July 4, the day that my daughter learned to ride without training wheels, was one of my best days this year.

when I see people riding their bikes on the road, I scream at them . . . "do I ride my fucking car on your fucking bike trails?"  get off the road, assholes.
