Wow I don’t see that at all…

Most of the money government confiscates from people is wasted. Take the money flushed down the toilet in the war on terror.

A person is selfish for wanting to keep his money instead of giving it to government to waste and kill?

When government takes people’s money it largely uses it - like any organization- on itself…creating jobs for itself…creating power for itself

The idea it does it to make your own life better is the fantasy.

I didn't say the gov't wasn't wasteful, that is a huge issue

I think a person who wants to cut a few hundred/thousand dollars off their tax bill, when they are taking home 250k a year is selfish, yes

also, lets not bring the military spending into this, I was more talking about social programs and infrastructure things the gov't does

Military spending is insane, with a lot of it going to line the pockets of our neighbors in the DMV

One thing I find out of whack is there is a streak of libertarians in the GOP, how they can sleep in the same bed as the religious right and now the QANON to me is showing their stripes.   They don't really care about anything other than lowering their tax bill, no matter what the cost

and with all its faults, I do think the US gov't makes lives better for a lot of people
There still is some personal responsibility that people need to take to fill that gap

Social programs aren’t wasteful? Infrastructure isn’t wasteful?

In the hands of government most everything is wasteful.

Please don’t be so naive.

And how can you just ignore military spending? I mean it’s convenient but how can you?

A person is selfish for wanting to keep the money they themselves earn and not give it to the government that ends up wasting 90% of it….

Ok…

$250,000 sadly isn’t even that much in the DC area…. And the way things are going it’s going to be worth less and less… or do you not do any grocery shopping?

I could see calling millionaires selfish but a household earning $250,000?

You know what’s selfish? Government just borrowing money when it doesn’t feel it’s getting enough from taxes and causing the value of your money…your earnings..to go down….making you and your family poorer…. The inflation tax

wasting 90% of it….
that's an interesting stat, I think it's inefficient to a large degree, but those dollars are usually creating jobs somewhere and those people are spending that money into the economy, creating more jobs  (I agree, the military is a different animal and different arguments need to be made there)

You save a wealthy person $25k on their tax bill, do you think they go out and create new jobs
not likely, they do it based on what the market wants not paying less in taxes

and yes, I do think a lot of wealthy people are selfish and 'mine mine mine...I earned it'  when the reality is they won the birth lottery or were lucky

also The national median family income for the United States for FY 2021 is $79,900,

so I'd say the VAST majority of Americans' think $250k is loaded
the DMV has 7 of the richest 10 counties in all of the country

And why is the DMV loaded? As you yourself said because of wasteful government spending

But wasteful government spending is good?

Dude… how about government spend that money on the rest of the country?

So many defense industry “consultants” in Arlington… kind of grosses me out lately

But yeah government spending is great
