The landscape of NHL blue lines changed dramatically in about 8½ hours Tuesday morning with the announcement of the retirements of defensemen Keith Yandle, then Zdeno Chara, then P.K. Subban.

Combined, they played 3,623 NHL games, the equivalent of nearly 45 seasons, scoring a cumulative 1,766 points (427 goals, 1,339 assists).
It’s stunning to me how quickly Subban got washed. Chara and Yandle winded down and hit some valleys on their path to retirement but Subban literally just became unplayable pretty much overnight at 31.

A band I will literally never understand the staying power of. So corny/kitschy and yet treated like "a very important band."

They are icons. They are influences. They are one of the important bands from an important era of music. They represented so much to the lgbt times of a generation.

I'm #blessed to have been able to see them live.

I can’t say I see much importance to them though they would be the first to admit they weren’t at all about importance… just fun

But who doesn’t like the B52s?

Weren’t they from Athens? Paved the way for the scene?

Some portions of this ensemble will form a new band with a cleverly similar name and continue to milk this reputation for the next few decades.

Wanders off to add a B-52s song to my in progress “Electric Slide Optional” playlist aka the best/west Wedding Reception ever

I also noted today their debut album was produced by Island Records main man Chris Blackwell

The only "portion" of this ensemble that's hurting is the one keyboard dude... I think John Mayer will be just fine doing whatever he decides to do.
