I have thought the parliamentary system superior for about two decades now.

What I like is that to be PM your party must have the majority. None of this the president can’t do shit cause his party doesn’t control the senate BS. And if the PM fucks up then the majority party just replaces them. In our system we are stuck and can’t do anything…we elect a president to do stuff but most of the time they can’t do anything. All the stars have to align just so for an American president to get anything done and it’s likely to be a very short window anyways. In America these days a president is lucky to get a couple of bills through congress! How is that any way to govern?

You do understand the extreme gerrymandering in the US would very much hurt the Dems in a parliamentary system, right?

Although I do like the idea of the incoming PM coming and asking me for permission to form a government in my name . . .

we will never have a parliamentary system in the US, and if by some miracle we converted to one ending gerrymandering would be easy….

I mean our system of government is in our constitution so we are stuck with it….if somehow we could change it we could easily ditch gerrymandering

We are convinced we are the greatest in everything so nothing changes….we are complacent and our government ossified

I mean if we can’t even ditch the electoral college….

You know, you could just leave this country, since it's so bad and out of control.  I'm sure the concerts, are wonderful.

Yes. Find someplace better, and report back.

See..I love that system…they are not stuck for four years with clown leadership
I really always thought the parliamentary stuff was a joke by the way the act on the floor
but I have to agree, I'm thinking it's a better system than ours

it's a system of gov't I'm really not well versed in

as someone who grew up under a parliamentary system: same shit, different flies.

also, the grass is always greener: what it gains in immediacy (ability to change the leader, if not the entire admin) it lacks in checks and balances.  the party in power can pass any law it wants and the opposition can do jack shit other than make speeches and bang on desks ("hear hear!!!").  the aspect that i like the most is that one party is clearly in power and all successes and failures can be directly linked to them.  none of this "well we tried but the other side blocked us", or people from party A taking credit for boondoggles passed by party B (RE: republicans bitching and voting against the Inflation Reduction Act, then going home to bask in the glow of all the money coming to their district because of said Act).

I'm sorry, Hutch; I shouldn't have been a dickhead to you. My beliefs, about how great we have it here compared to other places, doesn't excuse negative behavior towards others.

Right Wing Film Makers/Grifters get conned out of their money but an "ally"

And you know someone is now pitching this a documentary right now, given all the colorful characters involved in this.

Anti-Woke Superhero Movie Blown Up in $1 Million Con

The film was based on a Confederacy-themed superhero comic book character created by a right-wing blogger. But then the money disappeared.
