when I visited ND, we went to see the religious artifacts
they purported to have the actual crown of thorns....IMO religious people are so gullible

In all seriousness, isn't the Catholic Church more than well funded enough to do this repair without non-believers ponying up? I'm sure they can flip over the couch cushions at the Vatican and cover this.

It's owned by France, not by the Catholic Church. I didn't know that all the distances in Paris (maybe they said France?) are measured starting at Notre Dame. I'm not religious, but I do feel like it deserves to be saved because of it's influence and importance in Architecture and Art.
