menthol cigarettes

The vast majority of Black smokers — 85 percent — use menthol

That's racism, right there!
I know I'm kinda waiting for Faux and GQP to get up in arms about how the Dems are targeting Blacks with racist policies

Albert Pujols.

I admittedly thought he retired a long time ago.

Maybe Miguel Cabrera could retire and keep him company.

I have to imagine that for a player of his stature, he was given that option, multiple times, but chose not to.

Zero chance with 2.5 years left on his deal, despite his .098 batting avg.

same reason so many great soccer players come from the brazilian favelas: desperation.  it's one of the only ways out.

Brazil - 200 mil pop and massive soccer orgs
DR - 10 Mil  I gotta assume there so really good farm system there, but not like they have an MLS or something comparable...or maybe they do

I mean why aren't poor Haitians good a Baseball too?...it's the same island and they are even worse off
this is pathetic https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Haitian_baseball_players
(one of the 3 is a football player)

I know it has a little to do with Cuba as that was a breading ground for baseball teams in thee 50s, and those coaches moved to the DR

It's like Jamaicans and music, small country with a massive contribution to the musical cannon (yes there is a British conoly thing there)

baseball isn't part of haitian culture. they've been playing baseball in the DR for ~150 years, they have leagues, baseball academies, etc.  similar reason why a plurality of hockey players come from canada (~43% of the NHL), despite being a tenth the size of the US (~27%).

there is also a momentum thing.  once a type of athlete becomes a successful export, domestic resources will align to produce more of that export.
