New Shpongle out now.

technically it's a solo release by simon, it doesn't fit in with any of his projects (shpongle = techno-worldbeat with raja ram, hallucinogen = his solo dance stuff, younger brother = experimental stuff with benji vaugh, etc.)

New Tricky out September...

I'm always excited for a new Tricky album, even if so many of them are flops.  I still sort of regret picking the Foo Fighters soft opening at anthem over Tricky at U street.

I thought that Tricky show was cancelled? Was that the one before?

I think Tricky’s albums continue to be incredible

His last one for example is really good...just listened to it two nights ago and loved it..so is False Idols...not sure what people want or expect?

Which are the flops in your opinion

I haven’t heard Skilled Mechanics but don’t really consider it a Tricky album

It was the one before that where he had visa problems.  Only time I actually got to see Tricky live he walked out after 5 songs because it wasn't dark enough.

Flop was maybe too strong a word, but I don't think I've loved any of his albums since Angels with Dirty Faces.  Knowle West Boy, ununiform, Mixed Race, were all ok for me but I don't listen to them on repeat like I do the first three and Nearly God. And admittedly, I think Maxinquaye is my favorite of the trip hop albums so it's pretty hard to keep that standard up.

Wow you should listen some more!

False Idols is fantastic...better than anything after the first three

I feel like he can’t win...people only seem to have room for so much Tricky

I love the Doll Parts cover on the last one but turn out the lights, play it late at night when you are by yourself and tell me the whole thing isn’t great

Anyways just my own opinion

I saw Tricky in 1998 - he did not face the crowd at all....it wasn't really a good gig.

I was there but can’t remember a thing..only reason I know is cause I have the ticket stub

Honestly I was shocked to find the stub a few years ago ..cause I thought I had never seen him

But I remember being kind of obsessed with Tricky around then

besides the Cornershop other 2020 records I'm enjoying are

Too Free - Love In High Demand
James Hunter Six - Nick Of Time
Don Bryant - You Make Me Feel
Cee-Lo Green is Thomas Calloway
Paul Heaton \ Jacqui Abbott - Manchester Calling

Will surely be spending more time with the new Weller and Bad Moves
T.Rex

I got my Cornershop about a week ago

I got to say a 48 minute record on two LPs is most unfortunate... they should have trimmed the last song a few minutes and stuck it on one platter or added at least three songs and kept it a double...or just stuck the whole thing on one LP..not ideal sonically but wouldn’t suffer that much! It’s been done many times..When I listen to an album I don’t want to get up every ten minutes to turn it over!

Otherwise great...not only did Tjinder sign a card but he even signed the cardboard flat to protect the record (I almost threw it out or reused it)

People say order from artists and in this case I had to do that but I paid $10 more and it took three weeks to get it (Amazon would have been three days)

Tjinder has an amazing streak going..not that many artists can put out five records in a row I dearly love even if it’s been 23 years

When I was born for the 7th time
The Clinton record
Handcream
Judy
This new one
