I can barely do any of these by themselves without coughing or throwing up

Around 95% of the population have some immunity due to a combination of vaccination and past infections, according to Greta Massetti, a senior epidemiologist at the CDC.

although the daily avg deaths is close to 500 as of Aug 11

not sure if you missed it
President Biden said that the pandemic is over.

numbers are looking better
with only avg 500 deaths a day (compared to this time last year it was 2100 deaths avg per day)

not really in the clear though

good news for those who got the vax

those who have received COVID-19 vaccines "become connected to the internet"

I swear I have not gotten better reception since, but I didn't really benchmark where I was before, so all conjecture on my part

This is kinda "water is wet" news for this crowd, but I do love some data as it correlates to excess deaths

https://twitter.com/JamesSurowiecki/status/1576916442229837824?s=20&t=ZPdiyR62Fuhgstp_s1r-yQ

New study of almost 600,000 deaths in Ohio and Florida shows that registered Republicans had far higher excess-death rates than registered Democrats during the pandemic, with almost all of the gap coming after vaccines were available.
https://nber.org/system/files/working_papers/w30512/w30512.pdf
The study shows there was no difference in excess deaths between Dem and GOP voters in 2018 and early 2020 (control). And there was no real gap pre-vaccine. But beginning spring 2021, and accelerating w/Delta Republicans began dying at a significantly higher rate.

and he ends with the point I always make when discussing this
One other thing to note: this study looked at excess deaths, not Covid deaths. So if the vaccines were killing people, you'd see it in this data. You don't see it, because they're not.

Not blaming the club, but I almost certainly caught covid at the B-52s Anthem show, where I foolishly took off my mask for a while. Overconfidence from my recent booster, positive 3 days later. I'm pretty much a hermit other than shows and everyone around me is negative, so that was likely it. I'm fine, but if you're at all vulnerable keep the mask on in the club.

Gurrrrl, I got it from going to a single college class. Third time this year. I want masks back.  I never even got the sniffles for two years, when we had to wear them.

But, what do I know . . . I'm the one who loves WSMFP.

Then wear one? No one’s stopping you.

Many other countries have moved past the masks. Nobody at all was masking in Europe this Summer. So glad I got it. Now I know it's nothing to be afraid of.
