consider how much we don't know: infection rates (due to lack of testing), mortality rate, intensity of the outbreak (aka R0), distribution of immunity (antibodies), whether antibodies are even relevant with this disease, etc...  with so many squishy unknowns and tenuous assumptions, any wonder that the models' outputs change regularly?

well this potentially throws everything out the window with regards to our understanding of the disease:

CDC reviewing ‘stunning’ universal testing results from Boston homeless shelter: "Of the 397 people tested, 146 people tested positive. Not a single one had any symptoms."

either we need to reassess how much we know about covid-19, or we need a new test.

this is so a few weeks ago, but I just found out about this
There are close to 100k employees/contractors (with a number being us citizens) stuck aboard these cruise ships
https://abcnews.go.com/US/90000-cruise-ship-crew-members-stuck-sea-amid/story?id=70057005

My disgust for the industry (and honestly the people who use these) is pretty high.
But I do feel for these employees

Saw this and just kinda blew me away.
I have a dancer friend that works on a Royal Caribbean ship. He has been stuck on the ship for 64 days. They won’t let crew members off. The U.S. Consulate can’t help. They denied entry in Shangai, South Korea, Manila, Hong Kong. Everyone is healthy. Company severed his contract.

On a side note....a great Twilight Zone episode would be
Julian, on a dare from some internet forum, get's passage on the Frank Turner 3 day cruise...then Covid-19 happens and he's stuck there for 6 months...someone finish this story

Frank plays the same 5 songs every night to entertain the trapped guests and spends 12 hours a day instagramming and livejournalling about what a dynamic, bold and brave leader he is as a result during this time of crisis.

And by day 10, Jules is a convert, and self-tattoos FTHC on each of his knuckles using only his hairdye and a heated lobster antennae. Day 11, Jules sings "Just give me one fine day of plain sailing weather and I can fuck up anything, anything." so many times in a row that the rest of the passengers murder him and feast on his flesh, leaving aside only the knuckles.

Georgia Sen. Kelly Loeffler's latest attempt to deflect attention from her seven-figure stock sell-off just a month before the stock market collapsed because of impacts from the coronavirus may be her most creative yet. In short: It's socialism -- or something.

Here's what the Georgia Republican senator said on Fox News Friday:

"This was a political attack designed to take away from the issue at hand. And to use this outbreak to play politics. We have addressed this and taken extraordinary measures to make sure that we can't be attacked for our success. This gets at the very heart of why I came to Washington, to defend free enterprise, to defend capitalism. This is a socialist attack. We have taken extraordinary measures, and I am focused solely on working for Georgians. I have been doing that seven days a week, around the clock. And it's my honor to be here and serve, and that's why I stepped out of the private sector."
