I'm sure some data/numbers master can pull this data and find it much quicker than me... but wow.

Basically out of the DMV area (minus a few tiny road trips to PA/local beaches) for the first time in over a year and no one gives a shit about Covid in Arizona. No one... Everything is open, masks are optional at best...

Maybe it's the nice weather???? Maybe it's the overwhelming Trump support??? Maybe it's people that just don't give a fuck.... but who's got my stats on places like this in terms of covid rates vs. lock down societies like where we live and what the % differences are in terms of cases, rates per capita, mortality, etc? Space? Brennser?

Arizona 2334/ million dead
Maryland 1383/million dead
Virginia 1214/million dead

So about twice as bad

And that’s even with their head start advantage.. DMV was naturally screwed due to proximity and contact with NYC

Arizona had many months to get ready and did nothing and got hit hard

So tired - not saying you/ with people saying lockdown was useless

Marijuana is fully legal here though!! I knew it passed, but didn't realize it recreational was now sold everywhere. It's no Takoma Wellness, but can't complain.

I think this is a great idea to track post jab...but will likely get poor adoption
https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/vaccines/safety/vsafe.html
V-safe is a smartphone-based tool that uses text messaging and web surveys to provide personalized health check-ins after you receive a COVID-19 vaccine. Through v-safe, you can quickly tell CDC if you have any side effects after getting a COVID-19 vaccine. Depending on your answers to the web surveys, someone from CDC may call to check on you and get more information. V-safe will also remind you to get your second COVID-19 vaccine dose if you need one.

In related news, 1 million in Virginia

Current Covid rates in Arizona are less than half of what they are in Va.

Also AZ went blue by a slim margin and has two blue senators.

What are you doing in AZ?

I've grown to really like it out here over the years...and if her family wasn't so insane, we'd probably consider moving here.

At this point how you handle covid isn’t as critical (assuming there isn’t a new variant that vaccines don’t immunize against)

The US had 280 or so deaths yesterday

That is the lowest amount in over a year

Arizona blew it. They had a performance that rivals the worst performing country in the world. And they had a substantial advantage over NY, NJ, PA and many other states that were hit hard early when doctors knew much less on how to treat, infrastructure wasn’t ready, there was still controversy over masking etc

Basically life is cheap in some parts of the country

not sure why it took so long for people to come up with cash-grab things on the masks, but Will.I.Am is throwing his hat in

https://www.axios.com/smart-mask-will-i-am-6f45c2a5-04f2-4309-b7a9-7559811013dc.html

The "Xupermask" (pronounced super mask) comes with Honeywell's HEPA ventilation filters — designed for consumer, not medical, use. It has bluetooth connectivity and comes with an earbud docking system.
