My unvaccinated 80 year old mom left a message that she's glad we made it back ok from California. She was worried the whole time about losing us in an earthquake.
Inappropriate LOLs from me.
Uneducated Americans live anecdotally, not scientifically.
My mom lives in the same town as my brother, his wife, his wife's sister, and his wife's sister's teenage son (did I get the grammar right on all that?). The teenage son is one of the handful of teenage boys nationally who had a big negative reaction to the vaccine. Things were touch and go for a while, and he was in the hospital for a week. (My brother's wife actually had the illness that the vaccine caused in the kid a couple of years ago, pre-Covid, so it's probably some kind of genetic predisposition in their family...my mom is not blood related to either of them.)
My mom observes that, and she has newly found fuel as to why she will never get the vaccine. Never mind that she witnesses something with incredibly low odds. Never mind that that something was occurring in teenage boys and not elderly women. Never mind that the Covid death rate for her age group is over 10%. She saw with her own eyes the harm that the vaccine does (and doesn't personally know anyone who was seriously ill or died from Covid.)
