can we blame Canada?

... before somebody thinks of blaming us

the author makes $2.2 bil sound like a lot of money...

for canada, it is considering its military spending.  canada spends more of its budget on social programs like healthcare, so there isn't as much left for military.  last year the country spent around $22B on military, in total.  having a nearly unlimited military budget, including lots of unreported funding (dark money), isn't something canadians are into...

I mean it’s all relative… people on that plane won’t get their heads chopped off but what awaits them in America?

they're not headed to america - that flight went to Doha.  zero chance all those folks will be getting to the US, unless they already have visas.

Can't believe they're not wearing masks on that flight.

i'm told the refreshments were pitiful and service was really, really slow.

Must be nice to have the biggest superpower and an ocean as their closest neighbor
I wouldn't spend any money on a military either

none of those people are getting to the US.

They'll be living in a higher end version of whatever is happening at the Mexico border for a while and then shipped off to some other wasteland.

Having said that, there are a lot of competing interests

I remain hopeful they will tone it down cause hope is all I got …

And this is your positive spin? That armed american men are worth more than unarmed oppressed war-torn civilians?
