This is kind of what I was getting at...my brother-in-law does think you should, i don't know, recycle or bring usable bags to the grocery store. He just doesn't think anyone should be forced to do it because of some crazy "Marxist" ideology.
My sister-in-law, on the other hand, brings plastic straws with her on vacation and hands them out at bars. She also unfriended me on Facebook when I ask her to explain how leftists are using masking as a means of population control. Whaddaya gonna do?
Even if you believe all opportunities and resources should be exploited - as a pro- business person would - it’s still doesn’t make sense to me why someone with conservative values wouldn’t do so in the most responsible way possible.
What sucks about this, sadly they were correct
The way we do Recycling today...is broken, really bad. it's not even breaking even. it costs way more in resouces to collect and process the recyclables than any benefit. Yes we are keeping tons of trash from filling the land fills. but a pittance compared to the millions of tons of trash produced.
I mean two trucks have to come to get my trash/recycles. I gotta imagine you would have to pick up 1 million cans of recyclables to cover the impact of 1 truck, to say nothing about all the other costs/environmental impacts down the line
only thing I can say is recycling is a jobs program, that it's doing well at. Lots of people work in that industry
but it's not saving the environment at all and there are lots of corps making tons of money off this
the plastic straw thing really was a joke too
such little actual impact and an easy target to show how it was kinda stupid
I think they are bad, but when you get your fast food in a plastic bag and styrofom containers...what is the dif of a gram of plastic the straw adds
Trust me, I would give my in-laws the stink eye all the time when they would throw their recyclables in the garbage
Now I feel like I was the one getting played
I think people just need to use less plastic/packaging is the real solution, but good luck with that
the corps won this battle, and they convinced a society that the consumer was the one responsible for this (you know who funded that ad campaign with the crying Indian... Keep America Beautiful, an organization backed by major packaging and drink manufacturers, not environmentalists)
