This story about Ohtani and gambling is nuts.

https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/39780093/sources-reps-dodgers-shohei-ohtani-ask-investigate-theft

I have to wonder if Ohtani’s translator and friend is taking the fall for Ohtani.

I have to wonder if Ohtani’s translator and friend is taking the fall for Ohtani.
There are three reasonable things that could have happened here:

(1) Exactly what Ohtanis team says happened in which case he has minor egg on his face for no having no controls.

(2) He paid for his friends gambling debts via wire under his own name in which case he has mashed potatoes for brains.

(3) The translator is his fall guy and he’s going to lose $700mil if proven.

Yikes.
