Finally finished the book about the Replacements by Mehr (Trouble boys).
Lordy that was depressing. I knew they were raging alcoholics who had shot themselves in the foot whenever they had a chance to make it big but not the extent.
I got to say it felt like an official biography. I felt like I was reading what Westerberg wanted…
I know people love this book but I didn’t. Also it didn’t quite explain why Bob was kicked out. I mean if it was the drugs and booze it’s nothing Tommy and Paul didn’t get into after Bob was kicked out. And if it was creative differences well I think the Replacements missed him once he left. Both Don’t tell a soul and All Shook Down are pretty weak.
Sadly it’s one of those books that after you read it you realize Paul and Tommy were assholes and Bob and Chris were the nice guys.
