 For over twenty years and eight albums, Australia's Hoodoo Gurus have given the world a dozen classic anthems, topped the charts and gained cult hero status. Hoodoo Gurus have now remastered their early albums and on October 24, the bands' own Hoodoo Gurus' Records will reissue their debut recording Stoneage Romeos. Additional back catalogue will be available digitally and a new studio release is planned for 2007.�?  Hoodoo Gurus have also assembled all their favorite video footage together in a long-form DVD for the US release of Tunnel Vision.
 
 The Stoneage Romeos reissue comes with the original Australian front cover art, as well as additional new material, including a fold out poster, and features bonus tracks "Leilani Pt 2", "Be My Guru" and "Hoodoo You Love". Full of�?  garage punk songs, big fat rhythm section and a wall of guitars, the band's debut topped the US college charts ahead of The Replacements, REM and Black Flag and stayed at #1 for seven weeks.�?  The first track, '(Let's All) Turn On' is a manifesto - checking off the Flaming Groovies, Ramones, Elvis, the Stones T-Rex and the Archies. Of the release, All Music Guide says "StoneAge Romeos ranks with the most solid debut albums of the 1980's and if you don't like the Hoodoo Gurus, I suspect you don't like rock & roll very much."
 
 The two disc DVD, Tunnel Vision, includes all the band's thirty videos, live performance filmed in venues around the world, and a full length documentary including interviews with the band as well as special guests including Red Kross and The Bangles.�?  "Tunnel Vision is a timely reminder of the importance of the Hoodoo Gurus." - Kerang
 
 The band is currently in the studio recording a new album for release in Spring of 2007 to be accompanied by their first live dates in the United States in many years.

Stoneage Romeos is a record that's never lost a bit of it's sheen for me.  It's been in steady rotation since the day I first heard it, probably in 1985.  It's really held up...doesn't sound dated at all.  A timeless classic!  Ok...enough with the gushing already...did I say that I love this record yet?
 
 I'm not sure how it'll benefit from a re-master though.  I've always thought that sonically it was a great record as well.  I guess I'll have to buy it (for the 3rd or 4th time) to find out.

Air Formation will release their new album in early 2007.
 
 The Daysleepers will release their first full length in 2007. Their 2nd EP will be out on or around Oct. 27th. This band is incredible and already fighting off the majors!
 
 Never Lose That Feeling: Vol. 2 sometime in early 2007. This is a compilation of classic Shoegaze cuts performed by different Nu-gazers. There is one cheat on this which is Sing-Sing redoing an old Lush song. Believe me, this collection is worth getting just for the remake of Catherine Wheel's "Black Metallic" by Hammock alone. This song is incredible! And I dare to say, just as good as Catherine Wheel's original.
 
 Psychedelica: Vol. 2 is a 2 disc collection from Northern Star Records with a variety of new music in the Psychedelic vein with some of it being a bit more towards Shoegaze. (I'm curious to see who all shows up since I helped the label find some of the bands.)
 
 Six.By.Seven Will be releasing a 'Greatest Hits' of sorts collection. Currently, they are in the process of selecting songs they think their fans would like to have included.
 
 DestroyAllDreamers are working on a new release that will be out sometime in 2007 which will then be followed up by a tour which will include DC as a must destination. (A long story behind that one.) These guys are incredible! Think Mogwai, Mono, Bowery Electric with a stronger rhythm section, Bark Psychosis minus a singer, God Is An Astronaut, a less agressive Paik, a little Hollowphonic, maybe a pinch of M83 meets Flying Saucer Attack.
 
 Fleeting Joys may be rereleasing their sold out debut full length; albeit, with a couple bonus tracks. Not sure if that is for public knowledge but...you read it here.
 
 God Is An Astronaut should have another album out in 2007. A very rich and epic sounding instrumental band from Dublin, Ireland with an incredible live show. They really want to come play the US but are having lots of problems right now with working out all of the logistics with having to buy/rent a massive stage full of equipement they need that good old Homeland Security tear through every inch of when trying to transport. Right now it's just not feasible for them.
 
 Hollowphonic have reformed and are working on a new album which I'm very much looking forward to hearing.
 
 The High Dials are hard at work now working on a new one. I've heard one song and, so far, more goodness from the Dials.

The Afghan Whigs' best of on Rhino is set to be released in 2007. It will include new tracks recorded this fall with the 1965 (Dulli, McCollum, Curley and Horrigan) iteration of the band.

Today a special package arrived in our offices. SubPop sent over a fat envelope filled with copies of the new Shins record, Wincing the Night Away. Within fifteen minutes of their arrival, the sounds of various tracks competing for audio space were blaring out of multiple editors�?? stereos like a giant indie-rock performance-art project. Yes, yes, we just got our hands on this album today, but we�??re already madly in love.
 
 Thanks to the ubiquitous Garden State soundtrack, the Shins have made songs like �??Caring Is Creepy�?� and �??New Slang�?� the stuff of car commercials and soccer-mom tape decks. But on the new joint, they�??ve grown up and out of their pretty psychedelic Sixties pop and, you know, My Bloody Valentine referencing. In a good way. the Shins are just more experimental and more confident here, pairing strings, New Wave synths and what the band claims is a �??hip-hop beat�?� with the soaring vocals and perfect, transcendent lyrics we�??ve come to expect from these quirky power-pop-makers.
 
 We�??re going to have a new favorite song tomorrow, but for now we�??re getting behind the elegiac �??Turn On Me,�?� which opens like the Cramps covering the Supremes and evolves into this gorgeous, lilting serenade to heartbreak. It also features the cutest line in a sad, sad song that we�??ve ever heard: �??You had to know I was fond of you, fond of y o u.�?� Oh boys, fondness doesn�??t even begin to describe it.
