That's how I first heard of her

Kim Gordon sold out the day Pitchfork gave her album best new music. Classic DC audience move.

Maybe Kim Gordon if I can find a ticket.

Mclusky. Been like 21 years since I last (and only)  time I saw them, for free at the Velvet Lounge. They were giving out free beer too for some reason?

That was a 930 Board Classic...all of our old friends were there. Markie. Lulu. Jadetree. Kurosawa. Thirsty. Probably more.

Despite the rumor Markie started, I didn't not go home with kurosawa.

NKOTB! Jesus

I'll see you at Mclusky if I can't find a ticket to the Sprints show at DC9 tonight (anyone got a spare ticket??)

Zach Bryan. Believe this will be the first time i'm seeing a modern country star (unless you count Kid Rock).

Congratulations. My kid wants to go but with Stubhub prices starting at $250, it's not going to happen.

I read an Ahmet Ertegun biography written with the input of his widow.

So here is a guy that knew music backwards and forwards…from Ray Charles to Zep and the Stones and more. Heck he even wrote songs for Ray.

I was so disappointed that he absolutely adored Kid Rock and saw him as the next big thing when Atlantic signed him. Here is a guy who partied with Jagger and everyone…hell he was the party! And what does he do like in his 70s but party with Kid Rock!! I just can’t even get my arms around that….but maybe there really was something to Kid Rock…

The guy who founded Atlantic Records and ran it for decades.
They don’t come anymore respected and credible

The MAGA ladies in Facebook sure do love him though.

First time I heard he was born rich I was surprised. Apparently his father had (has?) car dealerships in Detroit or something.

I guess that makes him a good actor, though not a good singer?

Whoever recognized Bawitaba and Cowboy would be major hits is clearly a genius. If it was Ertegun, esp late in his career, much respect to him.

Kid Rock was unquestionably a great business mind, a marketing genius, super fun and exciting to be around, and he made music execs a ton of money.  No surprise Ertegun would love him!

Thirsty and I had a radio station in college...we mostly dicked around and played whatever we wanted and ignored the playlists the station had.  They didn't really seem to care...no one listened to our college radio station anyway.

But one day, one of the higher ups begged us to play this new song he just heard.  He was psyched out of his mind about it...almost feral in his praise of this song.  Not an artist I had ever heard, but he was a nice guy so we led the show with it.  It was Bawitaba.  We never took his suggestions again
