Toronto has plenty of diversity, just because there isnt a representative from every country on earth on every block (like in DC) doesnt mean its not diversified. but its not like Lincoln Nebraska or anything! in fact, in my high school, there was no race/ethnicity that had 50% of the population or more.  i imagine a lot of people on here couldnt say that.

and Rhett said "Canada" not Toronto, the rest of Canada is FAR less diverse than DC or even NOVA.

but thats cause we dont give every 2-bit terrorist on earth a visa and the keys to a 7-11... [/b]

Heavens no.

 Vancouver is 37% non-white and 50% non-Christian.

Are you freekin' nuts:  You think this is the balance for the US?

I rest my case.  And, if you think half those restaurants you listed serve authentic cuisines, you need to get a passport and travel more.

http://www.cdc.gov/omh/Populations/populations.html

"The United States has become increasingly diverse in the last century.  According to the 2000 U.S. Census, approximately 30 percent of the population currently belongs to a racial or ethnic minority group"

So 20% isn't that far off....

So where in the Greater DC area can I go to get "authentic" food? Very little of the ethnic foods in America are authentic. They are designed to appeal to the American palate.

Five miles away, a different story:

 RACIAL/ETHNIC COMPOSITION

Arlington County takes pride in, and gains vitality from, the diversity of its population. According to the 2005 population estimates, 57.3 percent of Arlington residents are white, 20.8 percent are Hispanic, 9.1 percent are black or African-American, 9.6 percent are Asian or Other Pacific Islanders, 0.2 percent are American Indian, and 3.0 percent identified as another race or two or more races."

"So where in the Greater DC area can I go to get "authentic" food? Very little of the ethnic foods in America are authentic. They are designed to appeal to the American palate."

In neighborhoods - often referred to as ethnic neighborhoods - where the demand for authenticity is high.  Not where they cater to an 80% white American demographic.  A tiny taste of Anita's salsa will confirm this.  Of course, you may pay extra for dog, cat, frog, weird fungi or sea slugs..cause you look like you have an American Express ebony card....hahahaha.
