the story coming out of the biltmore hotel is so symbolic: when the results started going south for the GOP, they turned off off the news and cranked up the hank williams jr. there is an ongoing attempt to ignore the obvious (as someone noted, the majority of people there have blackberries/pagers/iphones/etc), everyone is smiling and nodding to the beat... but the hammer is about to fall.
and the band played on as the ship sank, the waiters served more champagne... and everyone played along.
