Wedding Crashers
« on: July 17, 2005, 01:15:00 pm »
Other than the emotional last 30 minutes (part of the Hollywoodized ending) this movie was hilarious!

Anybody else see it?  Should have eneded with Vince and Owen walking away with Vince holding the painting under his arm.....

I agree, very funny movie. I haven't laughed like that in quite awhile. The ending was a bit cheesey. but i tend to like that sort of stuff.

I too agree that the movie was irreverently hilarious.  In the same vein of Porkys and Animal House.  Vince Vaughn stole the show.  However, the movie did come to a screeching halt around the final third, but everything else made up for it.  The bonus was that a chunk of it was filmed in Talbot County on the Eastern Shore.  Having grown up there, I recognized many of the extras.

Have to agree with everyone above -- pretty funny, but slows down in the last third. The Most Obvious "Surprise" Cameo in Movie History also felt a little flat -- no good jokes to build on the set-up, I guess, and I at least saw it happening as soon as they metionend the character's name in the first 5 mins. and didn't immediately introduce him.

Looks like a couple of shots of Georgetown and Federal Triangle feature prominently as well. Their houses/offices were 3122/3120 ... I guess O, P, or Q Street?

I think it would have been hilarious if the movie ended with them walking away with the painting and not getting the girls. Did anyone else watch the DVD of "Dodgeball"? Turns out the director originally planned to end the movie with Ben Stiller's evil-guy team winning (explaining the rest of the movies's title "... A True Underdog Story", as underdogs don't usually win) just as Vince Vaughn's team's comeback falls short. The studio went nuts and forced them to change it to the Hollywood happy ending, but not after the director walked away from the movie for a few weeks in protest.

No interest in seeing this movie. I find the premise of two late 30something guys deceiving and using naiive younger women to just be repugnant and not funny. Plus, Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn are two of the ugliest, most unwatchable creeps in Hollywood.

But I do want to see the Bad News Bears movie. So I'm not anti-everything Hollywood.

Then how do you know if it's a quality show or not?

I'm not questioning whether Wedding Crashers is a quality movie. Hell, if the people on the 9:30 board who ran out and saw it on opening weekend liked it, that's enough for me to believe it's of high quality. I just don't like the premise or the stars, so it's probably not for me.

I am SO happy to have gotten out and spent my Saturday night in the theater watching this movie.  I wanted to do what I could to add to the first weekend's gross, hoping this may lend some creedence to the concept that comedies can be rated R.

Vince Vaugh has a golden touch, he can do very little wrong in my book (I say very little because I know someone will come up with something crappy he's been in, though often he's the best thing even in crappy movies).  And, crooked effed up nose and all, I love Owen.

I'm a chick, and I felt the end got a little sappy, although I liked Vince's story arc.

The crazy thing about Vince is that he ad-libs most of the stuff he does.
