I'm so sick of seeing that god damn team in the Super Bowl.

I'm weird I guess.. I like the Patriots.. they have the best coach since Bill Walsh....and maybe the best QB since Montana....and I like watching teams that play well and are well coached...

I also really like their "go for the jugular" approach...if they had been the Packers yesterday they would have stopped playing once they were up 21-7......

I mean, I love watching them play. I always loved the battles they had with Indy, but it's just.... it becomes grating. I wanted to see Peyton go out on top. I wanted to see Aaron Rodgers go for another Lombardi. I thought that would have been a great story. Now it's a Seattle team that played like horse shit vs a Pats team that seems to be rolling into the Super Bowl. But who knows.

I wanted to see Peyton die on the field and with his dying breathe admit he was a homosexual power bottom.

As such, I greatly enjoy any success Brady (his natural foil) has. I hope he wins 5 Super Bowls and Luck gets at least 2. Fuck Peyton.

I have nothing against either team. I think this shapes up as a good storyline. The old dynasty vs. the potential new one. The Seahawks didn't look so hot yesterday, but as Tom Jackson pointed out, even after tossing 4 picks, they never stopped playing aggressively and it paid off. And as my beloved Giants have shown - twice - Brady and the Pats can be beaten in the big game no matter how hot they are when they enter.

I agree with that.

I also like that both teams are the #1 seeds. I hate the concept of a single-elimination playoff featuring 40% of the league's teams as its an absolute affront to logic, reasoning, and cognitive function, so its nice to actually see - you know - the best two teams in football play for the title instead of some random 10-6 team that go hot in the last month.

Except for the NBA I'd say it's probably rare in any league that the two best teams during the regular season face each other for the championship.

I think it's alot easier to swallow in the NHL and NBA when the system is designed to reduce variance as much as possible (massive home court advantages, best of 7) versus the NFL's system which is the statistical equivalent of taping half the teams names on a wall and throwing a dart.

As much as I hate soccer, EPL has the best system: base the champion on all the data points (i e. games) available and eschew the concept of a playoff altogether. Playoffs are super exciting and creating ratings; playoffs are also an asinine, illogical way to name a champion.

Not saying that you implied so but that is not what playoffs are designed to do.  If you simply want the two best regular season teams then just have them play for eh championship and do not go through the charade of a playoff.

That is correct. As someone who is quite pedantic about grammar and spelling, I both welcome and appreciate your proper fisking of myself.

I could give a crap about this superbowl. But, I am looking forward to Lenny Kravitz!

But the Seahawks and the Patriots are two of my most hated teams. And I don't even watch football anymore.
