This is the ultimate feel good record for me... just an amazing bit of happenstance this even happened

I think Bob Dylan’s rut ends here...this album and playing with the Dead got him out of it.. Tweeter and the Monkeyman is a great Bob tune although I happen to think Petty had quite a bit to do with it... he namechecks like ten Springsteen songs on it!

Man I miss these guys... I am glad I got to see them a few times

It’s a shame nobody could come close to them after they were done... arguably they were done as a creative force about 1990

Bands like Flogging molly, dropkick Murphy’s etc are just a bad joke

Then again nobody can touch Shane MacGowan... one of the finest songwriters of any generation

I disagree with YOUR disagree.
Saw them at old 930 in 1985ish time period and they were great!

I love this album
I had a mix cassette with this and Mekons Fear and Whiskey (that surely you made) that I wore the shit out of
I'm glad that my last pre covid show was the  Poguetry in Motion at the black cat

Spider Stacy & Cait O'Riordan were in the ranks
I'm a Man You Don't Meet Every Day, A Pair of Brown Eyes and Dirty Old Town

They didn't play Sally MacLennane which is probably my favorite Pouges tune of all time
but it's all Shane in that one

Has anyone seen that Documentary they released this year...don't think you can stream it in the states (yes you could buy a VPN)

I kind of wish I had gone but I had a great night at Outer Body Llama and saw many friends..who knows when I will see them again?

If it happens again I will check it out

$35 just seemed excessive but maybe it’s not.. I know I would have enjoyed it

I never realized Cait joined the Pogues at 17 and came in as Shane’s gf...I just had no idea..  so she’s probably only 5 years older than me! (Looked it up and she is exactly give  or take a few days six years older)

The complete crap out of Shane has been so depressing ..

I really think when he was with the Popes was the last time he tried to get it together..he looked fit as a fiddle then as I recall wearing some black spandex outfit..he was in great shape

Ten years later at the 930 he needed an oxygen tank to get through the set

And look who just shows up in news

Love - Forever Changes

was seriously late to the brilliance of the album, but what a gem it truly is...  and Johnny Ecohls  shared some great tidbits about it during his listening party for it.

The title, "A House Is Not A Motel" came about due to Arthur coming home and finding a couple (Bryan had invited over) getting busy on the living room floor of the Castle
Arthur yelled out "BRYAN, my house ain't no fucking motel." The incident became an inside joke among members of the group. We thought it would be a great song title, the record co. abridged it.

also

"You Set the Scene”, was actually three different songs, that were never finished. Kenny Forssi put those unfinished songs together into one song that became "You Set The Scene," he did a fantastic job.

Fatboy Slim - You've Come A Long Way Baby

post listening party for this one, i was streaming it without realizing there was a clean version of  album and "In Heaven" and was very startled by "Illn In Heaven" when it came on... needless to say the Paternal Advisory version of the album is much better :p
