They won't be on the 25 man roster next year, and wouldn't be playing at all this year if Matos and then Hairston hadn't gone down with season ending injuries.

Tim Raines, Jr. and Darnell McDonald would be very surprised to hear that. [/b]

Well, they're on the roster, so MLB says they count. Raines has been playing all month, and McDonald is a rookie. If you're an O's fan, shouldn't you know this? [/b]

Were you talking about next year's roster? And does it make sense to argue whether they would or would not be playing? They are, end of story.

we discussed this at length in my office. i came up with the washington pundits, the washington red tape, and the washington hill staffers. other suggestions were the washington lewinskys and the washington tourists.

They have a combined 114 at bats in 155 games. They're irrelevant.

Maybe to you, but the fact remains that they are black, and play for the Orioles. That's all.

Why not use some sort of Hispanic reference in the name? A majority of the players these days are Hispanic, and DC has a large Hispanic community...

Since Raines and McDonald were already mentioned, Elrod Hendricks is still the bullpen coach.

minor threats clearly the best

i always identify the homestead grays with...homestead, the section of pittsburgh. yes i know they played in dc too, but homestead was in their name.

in one sense, rhett is correct, african-americans are at one of their lowest percentages in the majors. however, naming the team the grays is more about the past than the present. i kinda like it

One day there will come a time when us crackers start sueing the NBA for a low percentage of white players.
