there are people who live in farfax too. try and not leave work early and get to a show remotely on time. damn near impossible. if i had bought a ticket for spoon in DC and it was moved to merriweather, id be pissed. i did have a car, but i couldnt leave work early when i felt like it.

there may be light at the end of the tunnel. spoon is headlining cmj (think theyre playing on a sat). but id imagine it will be insanely crowded, that if i were a fan itd be better at merriweather in the pit  :)

is this where i can lay on the old "its just an example of capitalist america and if you dont like it, you can leave"  line i get so often when arguing how sometimes business practices seem morally inconvenient?

So how about booking Justice to play the club on one of the newly open club dates? Hmmmmmmm?

There can't be too much cross-over between Justice and Shins fans.

No, I haven't. It's only one reason and not THE reason I'm not going. If this alternative show was really attractive to me I'd deal with the inconvenience of getting to Merriweather.

I don't think that a show should be cancelled for a reason such as this.

In fairness, I don't recognize anyone that lives across a bridge or through a tunnel until they get into my area.  I didn't think this was much of a secret.

You complainers need to get a life.  Poor you!(in Livia Sopranos best voice.)  So you have to leave work early.  As Seth said earlier, Spoon and The Shins won't be coming on til later, so you probably don't have to leave too early.  There is no traffic leaving from the show and if you park at the Mall there is no waiting to get out so you should be home in bed by midnight snuggling with your Teddy Poo.

Or worse case scenario, you don't get to see Spoon this time around.  You'll live (although pathetically).

And the email I received from the club says "Spoon has agreed to play on The Shins bill at Merriweather Post Pavilion on October 22, so the 9:30 Club shows have been cancelled."

It's really not that serious.  Plus there's one very simple solution.  If you get just hammered enough, being in the GA pit will be an experience akin to the floor @ 9:30.  Unless you're coming up from Northern VA or further out (it's not that serious), it's not really gonna throw off your schedule too hard.  Stop bitching.  There's plenty of time to come up with a work around plan.  Plus I've seen plenty of instances where boardies were willing to give rides to complete strangers.  The man's running a bid-ness here.  I've seen people with a lot less money, respect, & accomplisments who don't interact with his customers on anywhere near the level Seth does.  Plus he's humble about it & even cracks a joke here & there.  The man made a smart business move while trying to appease his client base.  For crying out loud, the "Hey Seth" thread requests for shows seem to get granted (realistic ones) at a like 60%+ clip.  Plus Spoon's doing a complete set.  Other than some more meticulous planning, what the fuck is there to bitch about?

Some of the complaints are warranted due to respective personal situations with some boardies.

But the rest of y'all sound like some whiny ass bitches.

 True story . . .

Which one of you told pitchfork?

The Shins aren't made of squishy yellow foam like Spoon's other new friend,
but the two bands have enough mutual affection to account for their appearance on the same October 22 bill at the Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia,
 Maryland. (Vetiver opens the show.)

What this means, though, is that Spoon were forced to cancel both of their shows at D.C.'s 9:30 Club on October 22 and 23. In addition to a simple refund,
ticketholders for those shows have two options for attending the Merriweather Post Pavilion show:

 1) Go to the 9:30 or Merriweather box office, and trade in the original ticket and an extra ten dollars for a General Admission Pit or Reserved Pavilion
 ticket.

 2) Bring the original ticket to Merriweather on the day of the show for a lawn seat.

Other North American residents have a much easier decision to make: To go or not to go. The decisions continue September 5 in Seattle.

The 10/23 show was moved?

 To when?

To 10/22 at the Merriweather post pavilion - didn't you get the memo?

 2 nights at the 9:30 Club = 2400 people.
One night at the Merriweather post = 16,500.

Thanks for the advanced math lesson, Professor.
 As a counterpoint I would argue that 2 shows > 1 show...but maybe that's fuzzy math.

It takes a special degree of class for you to call out your customers as whiners and basically flip them off for wanting to enjoy the product you marketed to them.

As much as you want to convince everyone a non-healine slot at MPP is the same thing as 2 shows at the club, it's not and you know it.

Just so we're clear, your use of the unidentified pronoun "you" forces me to point out that I have no affiliation with the 9:30 Club or MPP or IMP Productions.

I am simply the voice of reason in this God Forsaken world.
