I've never really understood why the Dead haven't started playing together again.  They all play in their own bands that all cover Grateful Dead songs.

There's only four on that list that I'd pay to see. Probably none of them at the prices that would be charged!

 The Replacements
 Uncle Tupelo
 Talking Heads
 The Smiths

The remaining members toured a few years ago as "The Dead" but why they haven't kept that going I have no idea.

the sugarcubes just played a show together last november or something?

as much as i like pink floyd, i'm not sure how interesting a reunion show (at least of the 68-81 lineup) would be, especially considering the ticket prices that would be charge.  however if they didn't play any post-81 floyd or any dave/roger solo material, that'd be at least one thing going for it.

i'm not interested in an SP reunion.  after seeing shows in asheville and the show in DC, i could care less if i ever see them again and i'm certainly not going to pay for it.

a soundgarden reunion would be cool, but they'd definitely have to pretend that that last album never came out... and maybe superunknown too...

godspeed haven't really... 'broken up'.  they're just not doing anything right now.  i wouldn't say for sure that htey are done for good, however i do have to say that i'm glad that i caught 7 shows on that last tour.

i saw floyd in 94 @ RFK, and was kinda upset that half of their set was from 80s/90s material (division bell, momentary lapse of reason, etc.) however, that was the division bell tour. if roger and david could settle their differences, and do a tour only (NOT interested in hearing a new album from them) then it would have the potential to be amazing. you know roger would have nothing to do with the david solo stuff or post-wall floyd, which would leave us with all the classic material. if they did three sets, playing DSoTM, Wish You Were Here, Animals, in their entirety, it would be legendary. Although i'd personally replace DSoTM with Meddle. but thats just me.

regarding godspeed, yeah i know they're on "hiatus" and not officially broken up, but they've been MIA for 4 years now, so I'd call them doing a new album or tour a "reunion" of sorts..

well the problem is you're going to get way more of a greatest hits shows rather than a real sampling of the material.  the songs would also be played extremely true to the album versions.... which isn't really so cool if you've heard some of dave's guitar solos on the 77 tour.  the set would be the same every night as well... so that's less appealing too.

ideally if i had the opportunity to see them at any point, i would go back and see them sometime between 68 and 71.

November 17th in Reykjavik to be exact, and it was a one-off for charity and celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the band.

In the most technical sense they did reunite and there doesn't seem to be a rule book on how many shows or albums constitute a genuine getting back together, though the rules should probably say ALL ORIGINAL LIVING MEMBERS at the very least.
