I've never seen Morrissey live, but my wife was a huge Smiths fan.  Is it only his solo stuff or Smiths too?

Both. Mostly Morrissey stuff but he throws in 4-5 Smiths songs.

He played a bunch of Smiths songs at the DAR show.

I think those tickets were almost 60 dollars for orchestra, so I expect the wolf trap tickets to be about the same. (that includes ticketmaster "fees")

I wouldn't expect Morrissey ticket prices to top:

 Aretha Franklin: 40/25
 Steely Dan 50/35
 Tony Bennett: 42/25
 Chris Isaak: 40/25

I hate to be pedantic but which is it, 4 or 5, or a bunch (which I would classify as in the 8-10 range)?

I would go to hear 8-10 Smiths songs but not 4-5.

In Chicago last November he played:

 Panic
 William, It Was Really Nothing
 Girlfriend in a Coma
 How Soon Is Now?
Please Please Please Let Me Get What I Want

But he also did great solo songs The National Front Disco, Everyday is Like Sunday, and Disappointed. I thought it was the best solo show of his I've ever seen. Here's a live version of William: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZZaywfqk8xE

I'm thinking this is a list of the songs he played on his 2006 tour, and how often he played each?

 http://www.morrissey-solo.com/pollBooth.pl?qid=302&aid=-1

The 2006 setlist actually contains 27 songs!

 1) You Have Killed Me 25
 2) Still Ill 25
 3) The Youngest Was The Most Loved 25
 4) I Will See You In Far-Off Places 25
 5) First of the Gang To Die 25
 6) How Soon Is Now? 25
 7) Girlfriend In A Coma 25
 8) At Last I Am Born 25
 9) I Just Want To See The Boy Happy 25
 10) Let Me Kiss You 25
 11) Life Is A Pigsty 25
 12) Irish Blood, English Heart 24
 13) Trouble Loves Me 23
 14) My Life Is A Succession Of People Saying Goodbye 21
 15) Reader Meet Author 20
 16) To Me You Are A Work Of Art 18
 17) A Song From Under The Floorboards 12
 18) Last Night I Dreamt That Somebody Loved Me 10
 19) In The Future When Allâ??s Well 7
 20) I Have Forgiven Jesus 6
 21) On The Streets I Ran 6
 22) Ganglord 6
 23) Suedehead 2
 24) The Father Who Must Be Killed 2
 25) Human Being 2
 26) Stop Me If You Think Youâ??ve Heard This One Before 2

If you don't like his solo stuff you should probably stay home. The body of work since The Smiths disbanded is double what The Smiths created, there were tours where he didn't play any Smiths and the fact that nearly a half a dozen creep into the set is pretty remarkable.  But this is a Morrissey show, if you want Smiths only there are a number of cover bands or you could just play the albums at home, there are numerous bootlegs that may fill the bill.  But it's your lost, The Smiths catalog is superb and I saw them live three times but a Morrissey show is still to be cherished despite what may seem to be a paltry number of songs from the past IMHO.

But unfortunately nowhere near the same quality (IMHO)

No need to be snotty, I never said I wanted Smiths only I just wanted to clarify exactly how many Smiths songs he played.

I most likely will. But then again Wolf Trap is a beautiful setting and we could take the kids, have a picnic, enjoy some wine so maybe it might be worth it for even 5 songs.....

So do we think there will ever be a proper Smiths reunion? (and by proper I mean Morrissey/Marr - I could care less who plays drums and bass)

If my unreliable memory serves me, during the last tour in DC (at DAR), he played
 How soon is now
 Last night I dreamt
 Bigmouth strikes again
 Still ill
 There is a light

I don't think there will ever be a Smiths reunion tour, but I never thought there would be a Police reunion either. Then again, I don't think there were ugly intra-Police lawsuits.

A Smiths reunion is the only show that could ever lure me to the Nissan Pavilion or the Virgin festival (not that they would likely play at either; I'm just sayin').

If you don't like his solo stuff you should probably stay home. The body of work since The Smiths disbanded is double what The Smiths created thus the dominate part of the set list, in fact there were early tours in his solo career where he didn't play any Smiths at all so the fact that nearly a half a dozen creep into the set is pretty remarkable.  But unmistakably this is a Morrissey show, if you want a Smiths only set or even majority Smiths there are a number of cover bands out there, alternatively you could just play all the albums at home, or perhaps one of the numerous bootlegs may fill the bill.  However,  it's your lost, while The Smiths catalog is superb and the three times I saw them live spectacular a Morrissey show is nothing to sleep on and can be cherished in its own right,  despite what may seem to be a paltry number of songs from the pastâ?¦ IMHO.

I am a huge smiths fan. But I also love some of Morrissey's solo work too. I saw him in DC the last time he played. I felt it was well worth it. He did like 5 smiths songs, but also did a few songs from early in his solo career (which are pretty high quality too in my opinion)

Here's the set list he did last time he was in DC:

 How Soon Is Now?
First Of The Gang To Die
 November Spawned A Monster
Such A Little Thing Makes Such A Big Difference
 Bigmouth Strikes Again
 Let Me Kiss You
The World Is Full Of Crashing Bores
Last Night I Dreamt That Somebody Loved Me
 Subway Train/Everyday Is Like Sunday
How Can Anybody Possibly Know How I Feel?
 Now My Heart Is Full
 Rubber Ring
 Irish Blood, English Heart
 I Like You
 You Know I Couldn't Last
There Is A Light That Never Goes Out

Whoever said Still Ill was unfortunately wrong, but I've heard that he's been playing that one a lot lately on tour. My friend saw him a year ago in Oklahoma and said he did that song!

To the guy who's debating about going with his wife, just go. I swear it'll be a good time for all. I mean even if you only like his first two or three solo albums, I think you should atleast have a good time. I look at it this way, it's my closest chance I have to seeing the Smiths.

Worth the price of admission right there, though "Headmaster's Ritual" would make it almost perfect (with Johnny Marr's presence required for actual perfection).
