Was anyone else at the Belle and Sebastian show at the Black Cat in 1998 when you could hear a pin drop while they were playing? That was one of those nights where the audience totally helped turn that show into something special. They went nuts in between songs, but while they were playing you didn't hear a THING excpet for the band. It was pretty cool...hopefully the 9:30 shows will be that enjoyable.
i was there. that was a great show.  check out the set list:

 Dog On Wheels
I Know Where The Summer Goes
It's Hard To Be A Jew On Christmas
 A Century of Elvis
 Mayfly
Ease Your Feet In The Sea
 The Wrong Girl
The Stars Of Track And Field
 Seeing Other People
Is It Wicked Not To Care?
Loneliness of A Middle Distance Runner
 Dirty Dream Number Two
 Sleep The Clock Around

hard to beat that. only bad thing was that due to the ridiculous line outside, i missed half of guv'ner's set. and i really, really wanted to see guv'ner.

It's not the noisy crowds that are the problem, it's the fact that the band is not very good live period.  I mean, let's face it, their shows are boring and sloppy... don't get me wrong, it will still be enjoyable because we know and love the songs, they are one of my favorite bands, but just don't get your hopes up, much better in the studio.  Looking forward to New Porno though - have always missed them in the past!

Also, who needs to see a band two nights in a row, seriously, it's a free country do what you want, but why not let someone else get a chance, and this is coming from someone who got tix already.

Anybody that has seen them have a comment on the latter statement?

Geez, what are you trying to do, talk me out of the show?

New Pornos suck live without Neko, by the way. Not sure if there any good live with her.

I agree about two nights. But different people have different tastes and desires, so whatever, right?

That quote was from Cale, not Brennser. I know Brennser and I are Saturn soulmates and soulmates on a host of other topics, but not this one.

People got them both nights in a row? I skipped the second half of my fourth period (left around 10:30) so I could get tickets and they were sold out.
Waited for them forever, checked the website every day for tour dates, and then chemistry exam review ruins my Belle and Sebastian life.
I'm going back to the e-bay hunt. Good luck to everyone trying to find tickets.

you're right, those were not my sentiments, they were Cales but I thought you weighed in on the issue the last time The Shins were in town, no?

and thanks to a particularly awesome forumite I think I may have located a ticket

I was not denying having expressed that sentiment.
I'm not going to raise a big stink about it though, anymore. It's just a concert.

Bottom line though is people can do what they want.
