I just get so bored with the same old questions from people trying to get to the bottom of why a ticket costs what it costs. everyone should just look at the total price and decide whether they want to go. can you imagine if people dissected every purchase like that? how much the farmer, the dairy, the distrubutor, & 7-Eleven get for a gallon of milk? jeez!
yes that was me with Robbie.
[This message has been edited by Seth Hurwitz (edited 03-05-2002).]

Actually I am a kiss ass.
I think tickets are overly cheap. Jeez it costs nearly $9 to see a film, more if you want to go to Mazza gallery. That makes a live show performed by real people seem pretty good.
As for Robbies drummer. I think you did a pretty good stand in. Did you get puke on you? What was wrong with the guy?

there is no Radiohead show. they are not touring this year.
the surprise Radiohead gig, which was absolutely one of the most exciting things in my career, is a rather long story that I will sit down and bang out when I have the time if everyone is really that interested.
but wouldn't you rather just leave those memories intact?
[This message has been edited by Seth Hurwitz (edited 03-05-2002).]

fair enough Seth,
presumably, we all have other things to do. however, so that my memories are correct, wasn't there an early show that nite? I've always been curious to know if you had to ask someone to end early. Now that you have me thinking again.... compromise, please share as much or as little as you would like. just know that there are many people (OK, my wife, two friends, and I at least) who are VERY interested in knowing how that magic went down.
rumor has it that thom and the lads are on the west coast. if i heard correctly, thom at least joined some others in a performance recently. was it anti-grammy perhaps? or a musicians' rights rally? something like that.
On the topic of Radiohead, I came across this today...
Radiohead are planning to hit the studio to begin work on new material for their next effort in April. No release date has been set as of yet however. At present, the band plan to follow up the studio stint with a European trek in the summer.
As for Thom, he joined Beck last week (the 26th) for a cover of Velvet Underground's "I'm Set Free" at the Wiltern Theatre Recording Artists' Coalition's Concert for Artists' Rights in Los Angeles.

Hoping that Cooper Temple Clause comes on this side of the Atlantic soon and that you scoop them up Seth. Thanks for the consideration.
BTW, we like inside stories. Feel free to post away.
[This message has been edited by Jaguar (edited 03-05-2002).]

Twas The Night O'Radiohead
so here's how I remember it...
while I generally hate going to shows that aren't mine (think of being in your house, but you're not allowed to touch anything) I decided to suck it up and go to the Tibetan RFK show for the sole purpose of seeing Kraftwerk. that was too much to resist.
of course, lightning struck and all hell broke loose, which I heard about on the way there and turned around.
being that the previous night we had a Red Hot Chili Peppers warmup show at the club, and there were all sorts of luminaries from the oncoming Tibet weekend hanging about, I had had an unavoidable all-nighter (I was younger then) and was actually relieved to just get some carry out and go home and recuperate.
on the way to Rocklands for that comfort food fix, the cell phone rang.
to be continued...
[This message has been edited by Seth Hurwitz (edited 03-06-2002).]

I think it's cool Seth is writing in here! If only all business owners could connect.
This Radiohead shiat is from years ago, not last summer.

my friends and i were also heading home that night, then turned the car around once HFS announced Radiohead. then they announced when we were 5 minutes from the city that you had to be 21 to get in. i was very sad (i was 18 at the time), especially since i missed michael stipe. some people say you didn't have to be 21 but oh well. i was just glad to see the Tibet show both days. got a great spot for R.E.M. the next day

<kiss ass mode on>
welcome back seth! the forum lost a little of its magic when you left. with all the sepculation that goes on about the concert promotion biz, its nice to have an authoritative voice posting once in awhile. kinda like the belle & sebstain manager posting on the matador records board about ticket prices. your milk analogy is priceless btw
[This message has been edited by kosmo (edited 03-06-2002).]

i'm glad to hear some positive impressions of cornershop's latest. personally, i was bored with their last album, i've heard tjinder singh has been involved in a few amazing collaborations so i had him going off on his own. glad to hear their sticking together because their live energy is special.
