Then talk about being the hottest team since the trade.  Talk about cutting the lead to 3.5 from 10.5 since the trade.  Start focusing on your accomplishments and less on the downfalls of the Yankees - treat them just like any other ball club and maybe the team will start to believe it can win, rather than belive it can beat the Yankees.  See the difference?

I had the pleasure of watching the NESN broadcast of the Angels/Sox game yesterday and while the Sox were giving it to Anaheim, the announcers were updating the Yankees score run by run and talking the whole time about how the Yankee pitching isn't any good, nevermind the fact that Manny hit two jacks and Schilling was throwing himself back in the Cy Young race.  The Red Sox infatuation with Yankees is their biggest downfall.

the way i see it,if the Sox keep playing well, they'll get in , and worry about the playoffs when they get there.
And the funny thing is, when the Yankees beat the Red Sox last year and every other time, I never phoned home or wrote an e mail to my Red Sox fan friends and rubbed it in. You know why? Cause what comes around, goes around. And I know how Red Sox fans are.

My buddy the last time I was up in Boston said that he was at a bar for game seven. He's a huge Red Sox fan but he was laughing at all the people at the bar who were crying when Boone hit the home run. He said he was embarrassed to be a Red Sox fan at that time by their reaction, still chanting "Jeter Blows" and "Yankees Suck". [/b]
When we finally win the world series, trust me, we'll be too damn happy to call the Yankees fans!

ummm, no, i mean the angels.  i'd much rather you guys face the yankees and we face the twins than the other way around.  a's match up better against santana than the angels, and you guys match up better against the yankees.  an any event, it's gonna be a's/angels in the alcs.

Perfectly put.

The problem is that once the glory of finally winning a world series fades, Sox fans might actually have to deal with their own history rather than hating the Yankees. That's when Sox fans will truly be depressed.

You people are serious?  You actually follow this baseball shit?  God, what morons - you'll actually watch anything to keep from reading or being actively involved with anything meaningful.

Much like those who have invested in John Henry's managed futures funds in the last year.

22-0, to the Indians?  Oh yeah, there would have been a thread....

I was at Fenway last weekend and the number of fans wearing Yankees Suck t-shirts was insane
You'd see them around at many more ballparks than just Fenway, but they're not allowed (they're deemed instigatory at Camden).

The Indians are far from push-overs, and have been playing good ball of late. Check the standings. Good young talent in the line-up and on the mound.

Agreed. I think that the whole (insert team here) sucks thing is pretty classless, but the Sox take it to another level. Among the gems I saw were:

 Yankees Suck. Jeter Swallows.
 and
 Yankees Suck A-Rod.

If grown-ups are going to wear this stuff I could care less, but these were on kids under the age of ten, whose parents should know better...

well, when i am at a Orioles game, no matter WHO is playing, all it takes it a couple shouts of  "yankees suck, yankees suck" and the whole section I'm in is more than happy to pitch in with the fun.

This also works at Blue Jays home games too.

even when the Yankees arent even there!
