Has anyone here seen Hundreds of Beavers?
Watched it over the holidays and whiles it's a little long for what it is (an early 20th century silent slapstick), it was enjoyable escapism.
It's weird, silly (and again maybe a little long) and relatively low budget, but it was a welcome diversion from life's BS.

I thought it was a lot of fun and such a unique style. Obviously apes a lot from video games.

FWIW, my female friend who is not a video game person thought it was her favorite movie of the year. Its quite cute.

Female friends, when you are gay, are so special. Everyone is all lovely dovey, and cuddletastic . . . because no one wants in each other's pants.

Just remember, keep telling them that you are gay, because everyone hates those bi people.

Apropos of the thread and my prescient (I swear) post
AFI Silver is having select showings of Hundreds of Beavers this weekend and into Feb.
Hoping I can make it, the wife says it was too long and she would rather see A Complete Unknown. Probably to make up for us not seeing Dylan in Baltimore, or ever, or just a low-key Chalamet crush.

That budget is correct. It’s quite the darling in the cinema world as a result.

Secret of the Sacred Fig is so so so good. Might have jump leapfrogged to #1 on my Best of 2024 list but don’t want to be a victim of recency bias. But wow.

You should really go see Becoming Zeppelin, in imax if possible.

I’m not gonna say this again.

movie is being pulled tomorrow (Wednesday 2/12), so you have today and tomorrow to catch it in theaters.

i completely slept on it this weekend, and now i'm kicking myself.  remaining show times are limited, might have to drive into the city to catch a late showing tonight.  dang.

It was great. It traced the origins of the band, including all the studio / side projects and previous bands each member was in. I honestly didn't realize how many non-Zeppelin zeitgeist songs Page has played on. The movie looked a bit at their influences, then traced their path through recording and touring their first 2 albums. I'm in for the sequel if they ever make it.

TBH I didn't know much about their origin story, so it filled in plenty of gaps for me. There's some interesting audio interview clips w John Bonham that really completed the story. The video editing was overall good, and while they employed some pretty transparent "tricks of the trade", it was overall really effective.

The imax audio was stellar.
