I think I heard one of their songs on the radio, and it was awful.

Saw them at a free show at a Tower Records in New York last Friday.  I thought they were pretty good, even though I don't ususally go in for that 70's glam rock.  Definitely worth checking out.

ACT and MoveOn PAC are very proud to announce our partnership in a truly historic event.

The Vote for Change Tour (October 1-10) includes Bruce Springsteen and the E-Street Band, Bonnie Raitt, Dave Matthews Band, Dixie Chicks, Jackson Brown, John Mellencamp, Ben Harper, Kenny ??Babyface? Edmonds, Pearl Jam, R.E.M, Ben Harper and others.

Conceived by a loose coalition of musicians four months ago, Vote for Change is a multi-city, multi-artist tour that will include approximately 34 shows in 28 cities in 9 states over the course of one week.

Tickets will go on sale to the public on Saturday, August 21st. All proceeds from ticket sales will benefit ACT??s work in the battleground states.

note: this is NOT me saying that I like these bands-- i'm doin' it for the cause.  tho' REM used to be good.

That lineup would more likely make me vote for change in the music world than the political world.

It will also open up new audiences for DC for C, my morning jacket and bright eyes.......

Actually, seeing Bruce in Philadellphia with REM as support could be pretty entertaining.

It's not a festival with all on the same lineup.

Here's info I received on the only band on that list that matters to me:

Pearl Jam and Death Cab for Cutie will be performing the following Vote for Change shows:

 Oct. 1
  Reading, PA Sovereign Center
Oct. 2 Toledo, OH Sports Arena
Oct. 3 Grand Rapids, MI Delta Plex
Oct. 5 St. Louis, MO Fox Theater
Oct. 6 Asheville, NC Civic Center
Oct. 8 Kissimmee, FL Silver Spur Arena

What are you turning into me and me into you? Yes, having never seen Springsteen or REM, I guess that one would be the most appealing one to me, though only for nostalgia purposes.

What a frightening thought! I wont watch any role changing movies (Big, Vice Versa) again.

As well as a mild curiosity in seeing the two bands, I just cannot imagine REM fans and Bruce fans getting on too well. I could lead to some very funny lentyl casserole vs bloody steak fights.

I don't think there is a big difference in REM and Springsteen fans, but I could be wrong.

10 years is about right.

But they're both guitar-oriented mainstream artists who when they first started were considered a bit alternative...
