Well, I would not really be going to see her. I have two other shows I'd rather attend, however, Teitur hasn't been here in a long time...
 Cool, brennser!

I prefer knowing that it's an early show in advance before I buy a ticket. If my work schedule screws things up (and I normally don't know until a day or 2 in advance), then I can't make the show. It's really annoying when they do this. Oh well.

wait, what?  so that means that...theoretically...Sonic Youth will only play at the first show for about...an hour?

I'm officially pissed. This fucking sucks. I hate it when 9:30 does this.

Yea but I don't think that will be the case.  Here's how I figure the schedule will go.
 Doors 6:30
 Be Your Own Pet 7:00-7:30
 Sonic Youth 8:00-9:30

Then for the 2nd show, doors will open at 10:00.  So you see, there's nothing to worry about!   ;)

i honestly believe that Sonic Youth wouldn't do a second show if they thought it compromised the first show whatsoever

might even make them really intense in an effort to make sure that doesn't happen

I'm glad it's official then.

Explain to me in a logical way why this presents a problem?

if nothing else, i've been trying to get to a sonic youth show for years and i'm finally getting to see them.  it's disappointing going to see a group like this who have put out this number of albums, and knowing that there is a cap on the show time that will in some way mess with the set.  it's really not a huge deal though, i'm just greatful to be going.  and i'm thinking about getting a ticket to the second show, too.  which could be a mistake if they are going to play the exact same set twice.  and if they're going to play something completely different, then it's going to suck not to be at both.  but we really will not know.

the one time I saw them (2002, at the recher) they played an extremely short set (by my count it was an hour 20 at the most) so Im not sure having an hour and a half cap on the show will really mess with their set

I think Bearman's post above here more than sufficiently answers your question; however, I will elaborate if you insist. If both the early show and the late show had been announced at the same time, there's no way I would have willingly purchased a ticket to the early show as I vastly prefer late shows. I don't work a 9-to-5 job, and early shows can be difficult for me to make sometimes. Now I'm stuck unless I decide to try to sell my ticket or trade it or arrange to leave work early. Plus, with your standard "doors open at 7:30 show" or any late show, I can park for free at the Metro parking lot. With an early show, now, I'll have to pay for parking.
