Man Utd boost after Nike warning

Manchester United have been backed by two of their sponsors a day after sportswear giants Nike issued a warning to the Old Trafford side.
Nike say they may reconsider their sponsorship deal - worth up to £303m - if the club continues to under-achieve.

But brewers Anheuser-Busch, who make Budweiser beer, say they remain "fully committed" to the club and its fans.

Bookies Ladbrokes said: "We're refusing to enter into this debate. We hope this matter eventually settles down."

Manchester United's takeover by American billionaire Malcolm Glazer has contributed to apprehension about the future.

Nike's deal began three years ago but it contains a break clause that can be invoked after six years.

Manchester United shirt sponsors Vodafone, the mobile phone group, also intend to discuss the terms of their deal with new owner Glazer.

Anheuser-Busch?  That's sounds about right.  I think Walmart should stake a claim too.  They could sell those cheesy kits along with their other fine lines of clothing. I'd love to see the Vodafone emblem replaced with that lovely Walmart logo!  They truly are America's team.

These scouse *unts crack me up...even the psuedo variety....they crawl from under a rock every 20 years, scrape a victory via penalties, expect the whole European Football Authority to change it's rules because they sucked so much they didn't even qualify to re-enter the bloody competition...and become so full of themselves it's unbearable.

With the Liverscum "let us play next year even though we aren't good enough" mentality....even though the winners of the world cup aren't even guaranteed qualification the next time round unless they happen to be the host nation... United should've won the FA Cup because they were hands down the far better team on the day, but they didn't they lost to a much weaker side on penalties, just like AC Milan did the following Wednesday, but that's the breaks of the game....Ipswich should've been promoted to the premiership because over the season they were the third best team in the championship, but they didn't, West Ham did...again, that's the breaks get over it!

GET OVER IT, YOU JUST AREN'T GOOD ENOUGH TO PLAY IN THE COMPETITION NEXT SEASON Support your neighbours in blue and see you in 2025!

You can't change the facts Mank.  With all that money spent, the Bucaneers have nothing to show for it.  Liverpool may be shit, lucky or whatever term you want to use, but they are still the European Champions of 2005.  You and your silly lot can't take that away from them!  Come and see me when Man B have a Champions League trophy that can permantantly stay at Old Trafford.

Okay, fine...whatever. Liverpool football club are the greatest thing since toilet paper, especially in the last 20 years. Their record speaks for itself. Congratulations on being the greatest football team that ever donned a pair of shorts. I'm sure you'll be battling giants of the sport such as Charlton, Wigan, Manchester City and West Bromich Albion for mid-table suprememcy next season.

 Happy now?

Go back and read the previous posts.  I never once said that Liverpool were a great football team.  I've always stated that to be competitive in the Premiership you need investors to spend the same kind of money on a team that Chelski and Man B spend on their teams.  Before the new season even starts in late August, everyone already knows that Chelski, Man B and ARSEnal will dominate the top of the table, then about five teams will compete for that fourth spot and the rest will fight relegation.  It's not rocket science.

After the FA Cup, I congratulated Man B on their performance even though they lost.  I think if you go back in this thread you'll see that right after Liverpool won the cup, before I posted anything about it, you and the other Buccaneer supporters were talking trash about Liverpool....being lucky, not being in the Champions league next season and on and on.  That's when I started to give you a load of shit about the money Man B spends and has nothing to show for it.  Yes, you have next season in the Champions League.  For your sake, I hope they don't waste it again.

If it's decided that Liverpool can't defend the cup, so be it.  I can live with it.  They did play poorly in the Premiership matches this year.  Everton deserves to be in it.

If you were to check my posts you'd find that I was happy scum won, I said I was neutral with a slight bias for scum a week before the match. I was even supporting scum over chelski.

It just cracks me up that because they got lucky, apart from 6 minutes of pure genius, scum fans are acting like it's the hey days of Shanks all over again....if that's the case then why is Benitez dismantling this 'amazing' team?

Everton didn't have two pennies to rub together and finished 4th....so it's not always about the money, although it doesn't do any  harm I admit, as £218,000,000 of Chelski's cashola proves. Besides, scum fans as yourself are only using the money excuse because your team doesn't have any.....what would scum do if they had it? Put it in the bank for a rainy day?? Well it's been pissing down over Anfield for the last 20 years. Of course they would spend it, so don't come the holier than though shite.

 Dropped trophy dents celebration

Celebrating Liverpool players got so carried away after winning the Champions League that they dropped the trophy, damaging it.
The club's museum said the famous silverware, which the club now owns after winning the competition five times, now sports a dent on one handle.

There are no plans to get the trophy fixed, the club said.

Curator Steve Done said: "We decided not to get it repaired because it is part of the character of the cup."

The trophy was reportedly dropped by a player during celebrations at the team's hotel in Istanbul.

They won the competition after beating AC Milan on penalties last Wednesday following a dramatic comeback from 3-0 down at half-time.

That's Gerrard kissing his own reflection, not the cup....

 Everton in talks with investors

Everton have held talks with a London-based consortium over investing in the Premiership club.
The group is led by former Tottenham director Howard Shore, but Everton chief executive Keith Wyness insisted they had only held "preliminary talks".

He said: "We have talked to several parties and always have an open mind about such things.

"But as a club we obviously have a duty to look seriously at any offers that come along."

The Shore consortium also includes Everton fan and London media man Keith Young.

I am glad for Liverpool's catalan, basque and other players and coach from Spain. To me Benitez is the best coach you can get along with Barcelona's Rijkaard and Milan's Ancelloti. He is a good coach and he is humble, doesn't get into the type of stupid behaviour of Mourinho. I hope they get into next year's Champions League.
