Parquet Courts at Ottobar - This is my 5th time seeing Parquet Courts.  I really like the new album and the addition of the electronic aspects it brings - sort of a Talking Heads-Remain In Light feel.

The show last night seemed a little off to me.  Usually the band has fun and engages with the audience.  Last night it almost seemed like they were annoyed and didn't really want to be there...especially Austin Brown. The show was fine otherwise.  I don't know maybe it was me.  Wonder if anyone else got this vibe as well..
.JohnnyBaconbitz?
Warmup band P.E. was entertaining.  Electronic dance music with some jazzy, avant-gard sax backup.

GWAR at Baltimore Soundstage.  My second time seeing them and I realized then and there that one really only needs to see GWAR 1 time.  Although the crowd and opening bands are always interesting.

maybe once a decade.  It helps to be heavily intoxicated.  What I don't understand is people who buy their music and listen to it at home

A+, would see again and again. Great musician, incredibly tight band (same backing band as Sam Evian), maybe 30 people there for his set.

Stayed for about 40 minutes of Sam's set, good enough but his vox didn't shine through on the DC9 sound system.

Sylvan Esso was cool. Not exactly my genre. Went along as part of girlfriend's daughter's birthday celebration. Liz is gonna be 30, wow we are old.
Really enjoyed the show. Lots of bleeps and bloops and hooks and lights.
Also, first time back to Anthem since October 2019 for Wilco. The Wharf is even more developed with busy bars and restaurants.
First time ever having seats upstairs, so it was the first time ever getting to use the VIP entrance. Big plus because even at 8:20ish, the line to get in for GA was very long.

PRO TIP: If you download the bindle app and upload your vaccine info you get in much faster! The long line is partly due to having to check the vaccine status, match it to ID etc. if you have the bindle app just mention it to staff and they should direct you to an express line or some such.

I like Sylvan Esso!

There is no better way to see a concert in DC than this method IMO.

Jon Wurster on a recent Bob Dylan show: https://dylanlive.substack.com/p/wednesday-night-in-knoxville-by-jon?fbclid=IwAR1GTOYqbWrFd1U3iouvJpDpHiKZFEJIIFS9y993aWe9pI7FGGAgzCwhoxA

Nice writeup! This may be nitpicky but isn't Charley Drayton the drummer and not the bassist in the linked video of Neil Young?

My favorite drummer (Steve Jordan) is playing with the Stones, and my second favorite drummer is now with Dylan? If Topper Headon joins the Replacements I’ll know this has all just been a beautiful fever dream. Charley is one of those rare drummers (like Jordan, Alex Van Halen and Charlie Watts) whose feel and snare drum sound are instantly recognizable and one-of-a-kind. The Divinyls’ “I Touch Myself”? That’s Charley. The Replacements’ “Merry Go Round”? Charley. “Love Shack”? Charley, too. AND he’s the bassist for what might be the greatest televised rock ‘n’ roll performance in the history of Earth. https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x2s8diq
