And for the record, Kurt Vile is pretty middle of the road musically. I bet he'd be right up the alley of plenty 40something white dudes, if they gave him a listen.
I very much enjoyed The Black Keys and Arctic Monkeys on Friday night in Norfolk. (I live down here now, so I saw this show instead of the D.C. performance.)Arctic Monkeys were a lot more energetic than I expected. Alex Turner had some charisma that I always heard was lacking in their performances. Stuff like "Pretty Visitors" came across really well live. The Black Keys definitely can own an arena, no doubt about it. I just wish they'd mix up their setlists a bit or throw in a few more old tracks like "Stack Shot Billy."
Cloud Nothings tore thru their set as usual but Dylan's amp went out late in the set (mid-song) so the rest of the band jammed for what seemed like 10 minutes while he tried to fix things.
Sorry to hear about their amp problems last night. Was it crowded? I was surprised to hear that they were shocked at the sell out in DC.
Song is called "Wasted Days". The amp went out third to last song and bassist had tantrum...in return the crowd did not ask for an encore.
Mellotron or something? Liked what I heard.
