GBV at Otto was spectacular. God bless Bob.

Just got back from A Giant Dog at DC9. They absolutely fucking destroyed it.

I'm going to check them out again at Otto I think. They're the real deal.
I second that....they blew the roof off the place
also did Great covers of Don't Change by INXS and Angst in my Pants by Sparks

so many good songs, soo much energy
a friend of mine was convinced the lead singer was doing meth...and that seemed accurate

this was their first DC show and the new album came out last week and it's fantastic
I picked up the vinyl and man this is a creepy cover

Did the drive up to Bmore for the double dose of AGD.

There were maybe 30 people at Otto, but they still tore the roof off.

Merge needs to lean into promoting these guys - send them to England and let the Lymies go apeshit for them.

I hope to see them at the Club in a couple of years.

Now it's time to rest up for GBV at Dogfish.  Last time I was hung over for a month.

Loved the AGD show.
Would love to see them on a properly-sized headline show, on maybe a weekend night to see if a big crowd improves the already fantastic energy.

man 30 people, that sucks
If Challanged hadn't turned me on to them, I would have never known
The new album is great...got a respectable 7.4 on pitchfork

not sure why they are not getting traction with the youth of today?

rainy tuesday night in baltimore after a holiday weekend surely didn't help...heard one of the band members saying that Metro Gallery probably a better fit for them at this point.

roger waters last night.
i've seen a lot of shows, but this was the most spectacular thing i've ever witnessed, pretty sure.
got "free relocation" from the 400's to the 100's which did not suck.
roger was in fine fettle, lucius on b.v., jonathan wilson as david gilmour.
excellent setlist and sound, those visuals.
that pig was this close.
see this show.

Any anti-Semitism?

I don't think Antisemitism and being opposed to Israel's settlements in Palestine lands are the same
It's not an open and shut case as some are trying to act like...and make it illegal to support Palestine

"All Americans — regardless of their views on Israel-Palestine — should understand that potentially targeting and blacklisting fellow citizens who support Palestinian rights could turn out to be the thin end of a thick authoritarian wedge."

I was there.  Normally, I like it when an artist plays several songs from the album they are supporting but DM's new album is rather lowkey and a lot of the songs don't really translate live.  "Where's The Revolution" really killed the momentum in the middle of the set.  A lot of songs from their most recent period which I'm not that familiar with but the ones that I did know really came on strong.  They ended with a string of their late `80s hits, which was great.  David Gahan is a great frontman, he really whips the crowd up (quite different from the mopey videos).  Sound was good.

as expected, the Lucy Dacus show was awesome.  Rolled out a few new songs.  Chatted up Bob Boilen a little bit before the show, he's surely got me beat on times he's seen Lucy.

Big Thief were really solid too, but guitarist/backing vocalist Buck Meek was missing.  I really missed his contribution as he's fantastic

Update- this sucks for her, she looked and sounded fine.
Just posted....

Lucy will be unable to perform the upcoming week of shows due to a case of appendicitis. She is extremely disappointed to have to cancel, but her doctors and surgeon insist. Lucy thanks everyone in advance for understanding, and she will be back on the road as soon as she can!

Lucy will miss the following shows (but Big Thief will still be performing!):
9/11 - Brooklyn, NY
9/13 - Holyoke, MA
9/14 - Ithaca, NY
9/15 - Montreal, QC
9/16 - Ottawa, ON

No post-game on Keene/Sweet yet.  The Ram's Head show was good. Crowd was mostly dead until the end.  I wonder how this compared to the Birchmere show.

And Tommy Keene needs a full set with a full band.  Dammit.
