good to hear, don't think I've seen him after that RNR show opening for Black Mountain...

Great Bon Iver show last night.  Bruce Hornsby showed up for a couple numbers including a Bonnie Raitt tune. Baltimore's own Jenn Wasner seemed to be loving her role in the band.  The usual Vernon-adoring crowd.  Cue the haters...

How was the light show? Remember a video getting posted a while back covering the incredible stage design they were taking on the road. His last show at the Anthem was him alone on stage in front of a black backdrop.

Very cool.  This was a much more dynamic show both visually and sonically.  Thanks for the visual aid Hatch.

Continuing my obsession with Luna, I went up on a whim to see them in NYC at the Bowery Ballroom. Stan and Justin, the original rhythm section, opened and ended the show. It was so awesome. Great audience. During the song "Going Home", Dean sang the line about the Twin Towers talking to each other and the audience spontaneously applauded and cheered. It was so great to see that show. It was like a history of the band because everyone got to perform. Justin played bass on "Friendly Advice" and Britta came out to sing backing vocals. Plus everyone was hanging out after the show at the downstairs bar. It was a pretty festive evening.

saw thom yorke last night.  t'was awesome, for those of us into that kind of thing (not sure that the missus was in that group...).  sound was a bit muddy, which is unfortunate given the style of music.  stuff from the new album came off a bit more energetic/aggro/edgy/etc. than the recorded versions.  final track of the show was "unmade", just thom and an electric piano, and it was damn near perfect.   

the star of the concert, other than thom's pants, was the light show.  the three musicians stood behind kraftwerk-like tables/stands with their equipment on them, and behind them was an enormous LCD screen that went edge to edge, floor to ceiling.  each song had its own animation, very different from each other - someone spent a lot of time programming that stuff.  damn trippy, so pro-tip: drop'em if ya got 'em.

Almost bailed last night, but im glad I didnt. New songs still aren't great but a lot translated well live i thought.  A few though still sounded like a generic band playing live in the background of some movie IMO.

Good bit of old stuff and they hit some of my favorites so I was stoked. Odd to hear something like Good Things on such a huge stage but it still rocked.

Also got to finally meet Hutch as I was leaving. Theyll never get the blood washed off the walls.

Kidding of course...it was nice to chat even for a minute, and even after he gave the side eye to my Bernie shirt before I introduced myself.

Definitely a highlight...it was funny because I really was having negative thoughts about the shirt and then you stop and yell “HUTCH?!?” And then you go “I wore it just for you!”

I still love seeing them, but the absence of Janet was palpable. Entertain still one of my favorite live songs ever though. Glad I went, and was fun to watch an inning of baseball on the pier after the show.

Really great Milk Carton Kids show last night at Uhall.
I had never seen before. They are very talented, and so funny and endearing.
The sound was terrific - just the 2 guys, one mic, and 2 acoustic guitars.
They played one song without amplification from the stage, and also one from within the crowd.
They came out after the show and signed merch and took pics with whoever wanted, for however long it would take. [I did not stick around for that]

Tiny Desk Fest last night, Sheryl Crow.
Fun night: a little happy hour, then the show for 1/2 hr or so, hits and new stuff, and such. Then, an interview in the NPR Auditorium, some merch as well.
Had a small chat with Bob about Megan Thee Stallion and her impressive use of Baltimore favorite Old Bay^TM in her rhymes.
Pretty cool thing he and his team have built. I will have to try to get there for a daytime event.

Big Thief
Pale Hound

Pale Hound were an unexpected joy. Really great songs.
Big Thief were riveting. Forgotten Eyes, Not, Masterpiece, Mary. I would not be surprised seeing them get big enough to play Anthem soon.
It seemed like one of those oversold, sold out shows. Many more people than were at New Pornos earlier in the week.
Joe and I were able to have a pretty thorough furniture store discussion between acts.

Big Thief were riveting.

that was an AWESOME show.  There is just something about her that I love and will keep coming back to see them live
Buck Meek was also outstanding on guitar and whispered backup vocal
I want to say the last time I saw them at the Cat (with Dacus split bill) Buck wasn't playing and IMO a huge loss.  So was very glad that he was there

There were a few guitar heavy jams that I wasn't expecting for some reason.  There were a few moments that it sounded like MBV
that intro to Shark Smile was fantastic
Best audience banter was when she said  "I never really go all out on the guitar jams, I just feel odd getting out in front and acting like a guitar god.  I need to come up and put my foot on the monitor and do one of those guitar jamming poses"(paraphrased)

Was packed, but got a good spot by Food Food (just beyond the glow) and the line for people already with a ticket was brutal (usually it's the will call line that is long, but no one was even on that)
(yes this is hyperbole, compared to lines at the anthem...but was still a little shocked at 9PM there was a line to the alleyway to get in)
