i also wonder if anyone even took notice of ESL closing up shop outside this forum. did anyone else know they closed? because hutch posted this article, and hutch is currently getting crucified for asking a few questions.
i'd have a beer with any of you and listen to your opinions on music. sure, there are rifts here between what people believe in and what they think matters and what's relevant, but at the heart of it people still really give a shit about the quality of music and the business involved. i haven't been around long enough to know what the hell it was like 20 years ago, but from everything i've ever read, the music industry has always been a cutthroat, go fuck yourself business that's all about being the best. whether it's acquiring millions of dollars, selling out MSG, getting one million streams, or just saying fuck the man, that hasn't changed. ESL closing wont change that. a record shop closing wont change that. nostalgia might be lost, maybe some scenes might become more saturated and local scenes might die, but in a universal sense nothing has changed.
