canuckistania, being under a repressive anarcho-socialist-communist regime, has its people brain-washed to the point that they adhere to lock-downs.

in quebec, you can be fined for being outside your house between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m. from January 9 to February 8.  quebeckers out and aboot between those hours can be fined between $1,000 to $6,000.

ontario's current lock-down has a lot of rules.  the prime minister (equivalent to governor) of ontario, doug ford - yes, brother of rob - recorded a PSA in several languages.  A+ for effort, D- for execution.

To be clear...it is negative 74 degrees during those times, so can't imagine there were lots of people just loitering around

Seems like the citizens of Ontario who made Doug Ford a prime minister have about as much sense as the people who made Charles Flynn a four star general.

So it's illegal to be homeless?

We have capital punishment for a reason.

Were people always this shitty - and maybe we just never heard about it-or is it something about the modern condition that is turning more people into assholes?

the 24 hour news cycle and citizen reporters has changed it so it's hard for Julian's America to fleece the chattle and use their wealth to get around laws and such

Where were you when I made that argument when there was that whole kerfuffle over me saying DFA1979 physically smelled so bad he should be shot at the border to JA?

There is a lot of evidence (and writings) that Trump’s America is a product of the assholeization of America

Just driving around and observing, for example, I don’t remember this aggressiveness and assholery on the roads being as pronounced twenty years ago..

What is your evidence for saying it was always thus?

I think there has been a change in our culture and increased selfishness in the past few decades and accelerating

Are you submitting that people are fundamentally always the same?

I think you heard about it way less than it was actually happening
The internet has really turned up the dial too...

I was more talking about how the wealthy do what every they like (thereby being shitty)

I also think you were way less bothered by assholes 20 years ago than you are today

Disagree strongly

When I had my 18 month sojourn in Buenos Aires 2001-2 I couldn’t get over all the assholery, the selfishness.. I missed America!!! You could cross the street here without fearing for your life
