oh fuck.
I gotta assume that place makes money, but it wouldn't if someone bought it at 2023 prices.

Didn't know they used to host shows there
There was a punk/new wave scene featured in the basement of this bar under the name "Something Reeks on Capitol Hill" back in the day. Remember seeing Original Fetish there, and maybe Tru Fax & the Insaniacs, too.

and in a case of bad timing, they just released a shirt est 1978

Weird thing is I always been told the Times has a favorable lease and the Times landlord was always happy just to keep renting and didn’t want to sell but maybe when the owner of the Times died something changed. Maybe son wants out as he is hardly ever there…frankly the place is totally neglected ….or maybe landlord decided it was time to sell when Hugh Kelly died.

I just feel for people that work there but place itself just isn’t doing much. Stopped by Tuesday night about 9:30 and hardly anyone there…by 11 they were closed. The homeless situation around there is bad since Black Lives Matter DC protests. Hardly any cop presence which is ironic given they are the DC cop bar!

Well I know you will think this is not a good thing but White Ford Bronco got their start playing the basement of the Times. Trying to remember who else…

Apparently the news is much exaggerated and building has been for sale for two years cause owner is asking for an absurd amount of money.

on that alone, the city should have shut them down!

I was there on a Friday night around 8:30 PM to have some pints and schmooze with the bartender
and maybe 10 outside and 10 inside, so pretty dead.
but it was a gorgeous night and was kinda an odd time though

How did I not know until yesterday that Dan Snyder had sold the Redskins? Did I sleep through the second half of July?

I think you were in Lisbon at the time.

Nah, July 20. I was definitely here, working.

I don't really follow football.but why did they choose the name "Commanders?" Couldn't they have chosen a name that more respectfully tipped it's hat to the bravery and toughness of Native Americans, rather than a name that tips it's hat to politicians and military spooks?
