Anyways it seems like the US has finally broken the back of this scourge

About 300 dead from it reported yesterday..lowest number since late March..

It only took 112,000 lives (reported) + around 50,000 unreported, snd shutting down the nation with tens of millions losing their jobs (most I think will get them back) but we finally seem to have things somewhat under control

I assume people will keep dying from it but in decreasing numbers

How badly was this bungled? Boggles the mind...they told people not to wear face masks for months!

Not to be a Debbie Downer, but i wouldn't say broken the back yet. 373 yesterday, but that's a Sunday count. I'd expect double that on weekdays this week.

Hopefully we are not opening too much too soon. And hopefully people will wear masks indoors, everywhere. And stay 6+ feet apart. Some communities seem to take the mask and distance things more seriously than others.

I think there's also going to be lots of crazy ass modifications to the school experience in the Fall. My kid is already bitching about it.

there is some serious pandemic fatigue going on.  i live in the kind of place that you'd think would adhere to medical recommendations (this region has been traumatized by the early days of the pandemic), but at this weekend's BLM protest folks were not maintaining 6 feet - and not even trying.  everyone did have a mask on and it was outside, so overall the risk was low... but organizers made of a point of asking everyone to keep 6' apart, and that never happened.

At Northam's presser yesterday (I tuned in to see what he had to say about schools), he said to expect big number of cases soon...because they had recently increased testing and there was a backlog of results.

Under Phase 2, restaurant and beverage establishments may offer indoor dining at 50 percent occupancy, fitness centers may open indoor areas at 30 percent occupancy and certain recreation and entertainment venues without shared equipment may open with restrictions.
The County is reopening its dog parks, basketball courts and volleyball courts on Friday, June 12, for people who practice social distancing and follow posted guidelines.

There are no bars in Virginia — they’re all classed restaurants. Beverage establishments refers to breweries/wineries/distilleries/etc.
