so, about last night... i didn't catch the 1/6 cmte live, but i did watch a bunch of new reports, pundits blathering on about the session, etc. - is it just me, or did last night not hit like the other episodes in this series?
they proved/illustrated how trump did nothing. problem: we already knew this. adding details about which room in the white house he did nothing in, or list all the people and government agencies he didn't call, doesn't make for compelling tv. the dig at hawley was fun, and seeing trump stumble through the day-after speech was almost interesting. only thing that got my attention for more than a few seconds was hearing that pence's secret service team was sending final goodbye messages to their families because they thought they might die. like ketchup on the wall, it's an interesting detail but doesn't move the ball forward.
the narrative they wanted to create is summed up in this headline: "
Trump’s behavior on Jan. 6 was worse than you thought. Much worse" but they didn't land that one with me. maybe i'm burnt out on J1-6. maybe i expected more fireworks in the season finally. just me?
