Didn't Third Eye Blind sell tickets to all their shows on one tour through eBay?

 I wonder how that went.

No, I'm saying the artist gets their take on the initial purchase of the ticket....The point I was making was that it's seems to be okay to steal from an artist, but not okay to pay over the odds for a ticket you don't have that someone has for sale. The artist gets their take on the initial purchase of a cd...file sharing is stealing, plain and simple...God bless those that do it, but don't complain if they get caught.

And I don't think it was an argument..who was arguing?

AND NO! It's not blame the victim, nobody puts a gun to these peoples heads to buy tickets from scalpers.
That may happen with Darkness tickets.  They are currently selling for $150 on eBay and the band has cancelled their last two gigs (Cleveland and Pittsburgh) and maybe cancelling tomorrow nights Philly show due to the singer having a throat problem.  Unless the band reschedules, anyone who bought scalped tickets is probably s-o-l.

I didn't mean argument as in arguing, but as in a position.  Not trying to start a war over this.

I still don't get your premise though -- with or without scalping, the artist is getting its same share.  I don't think any of the anti-scalpers were claiming that their concern was that the artists aren't being compensated (though someone brought it up after this particular discussion started)....but just that the scalpers are raping and pillaging.  Though, all allowable in the free market, I agree.

Lets both let this go...but I think file stealing is raping and pillaging the artist, but many feel this should be okay.  "Rape but don't be raped" if you know what I mean.

With that I think I finally understand what you're saying..."I'll steal from the artists, but feck you if you want to steal from me you bad scalpers..." kind of thing?  Interesting premise.  Convoluted in my opinion, but interesting nonetheless...   ;)

I think that it's completely understandable that the same people who download are the same one's who bitch about scalping.  In both cases, people are acting on the self-serving idea that they are owed something at the price they want to pay (or not pay) for it.  And if the price of something is not what they want to pay, then they are being victimized.

I'm one that has NEVER downloaded music and I'm bitching about the scalping. I guess I'm old-fashioned  :)

It's quite simple...that thingie on your desk that looks like a telly? Well get that plastic thingie that has a wire coming out of it which will probably be near the flat square doo-hickey with letters all over it, then push on a button....only that's as far as I got because I don't know which button.

Hey don't knock them...at least they could come up with a name that had more than one syllable, which is more than we can say for all the other 'it' bands that have come and gone recently.

I doubt any of you know this, but as of right now is purchasing directly from the club tomorrow morning the only way to get tix or is tickets.con going to release them on their site as well.  Just don't want to get to the club and find out that the tickets sold out in 20 seconds.
